Default Stock Unchipped P28 ECU on B18C1 w/ Skunk2 Intake Mani

Would a Stock P28 ECU (manual) run on a B18C1 /w Skunk2 Intake Mani fine? Or does it have to be chipped in order to run a DOHC?

Thanks!

Can my SFC Vtec controller fix that?

A bit, but not nearly as much as a chip would.

Why not just get it chipped? and then use the AFC?

Yeah...I am gonna chip it...but I just wanted to know if i put a switch on it so I can go back to stock form...if my car would run fine on it. I was thinking about going with the Mugen program but I heard that it runs so rich that the mileage really sucks...so I wanted to just be able to put on a switch so i can flip back and forth to Mugen and stock. But my car should run fine with it in stock form even if its a little lean?

mugen chip is overrated, you need high compression and huge cams to take advantage of it.. Just have it chipped to itr specs or similar and you dont have to worry about it.. IMO

I have dynoed few chips on my motor (JDM B18c with R cams, skunk2 and few other bolt ons), my recommendations are to make sure you get vtec at around 4900-5300rpm and keep the rev limit to around 8400rpm.
my finding on the mugen is that it runs rather rich but it does tend to make power over stock ecus. but is the power worth the gas mieleage? this all depends on you

this is why I offer few alternatives for the b18c motors

Ok guys....this is what I am running and you guys tell me what ECU chip I should run:

B18C1 with:
Stock Crank, Stock Rods, Overbore JDM ITR Pistons (11.1:1 Compression), Type R Flywheel, ACT HDSS clutch - Everything fully balanced

Portflow PnP'd Head w/ Skunk2 Stage 1 Cams, Skunk2 Valve Springs, Skunk2 Titanium Retainers/ Portflow Bronze Valve Guides

Skunk2 Intake Manifold w/ Type R Throttle Body and Type R AEM Cold air intake

DC 4-2-1 Header w/ RSR Stainless Exhaust

SFC Vtec Controller/ MSD SCI Ignition/ MSD 3 Step/ Blaster Coil

AEM Pulleys

What chip do you guys recommend and will this setup run fine with a stock P28 for commuting?

Thanks!

skunk chip
skunk2 is nothing more then slighlty chnaged Mugen program.

for daily driving, I personally run the Superchips program and/or J's Racing. for autoxing Mugen/PYR/SKunk2 (either of the three works well)

eg6ajk - Did you install a ZIF socket on your ECU?

just a regular socket, as there isn't much room for a ZIF socket to work (unless you get some specilized low version) plus ZIF can come undone from alot of vibration in a car over a period of few weeks or months...(especially with 400+lbs springs, low profile tires...)

Which RC injectors would you guys recommend for my setup? RC 270,310,340?

270s if you must, but stock injectors will be fine.

indeed stock 240cc injectors will do (found on almost all OBDI motors, including GSR ) especially if you are running CTR/ITR cams or Spec A, Stage I.

270cc will work as well but its not necessary. if the setup goes wild then its just better to invest in 310-350cc injectors but unnecessary at this point

Since I have a 95 GS-R my injectors are 240cc? Do OBD2 GS-Rs have different injectors? And that should be good enough?

yes, like Adrian said, all OBD1 civic/integra injectors are 240cc. If you want a slightly higher cc, go with an OBD1 prelude injector. I don't believe OBD2 injectors have a higher cc, they're the same if I'm not mistaken.
