Custom turbocharging a 96 honda civic dx
Hey I am not happy with the power of my 96 honda civic Dx. I have a AEM Cold Air Intake, Iridum Spark Plugs, Accel Spark Plug Wires and a MSD Igniton. I want to turbocharge it, but I am not trying to pay 3600 dollars for a turbo kit. Can you guys help me out on some cheap ideas?

Rather than telling you to "do a search" like all the resident idiots, I'll suggest you seriously narrow down the focus of your next thread. This entire forum is devoted to aspects of the question you just asked. But first, spend a few months reading everything that seems pertinent to your question. Well, I want about 190hp at the wheels. I just want feel a little more grunt on the street. I want a quick spooling, quick response turbo, but I don't have a lot of money to spend. Can someone help me out?

be prepared to build your bottom end to handle the power because the stock rods will not hold up to that kind of power.Those rods will not handle more then double the stock power rating.
I sugest you do some reading up in this forum.Ask more direct question.
I honestly wouldn't push that engine past 150whp and thats even pushing it.
Greddy kits start about $1,500 for your car and that will give you about 30-40 more whp...Or you can use that money ans swap in a more suitable engine that can handle more ower ....like the b18b...
Also if money is short i seriously don't recomend going with a turbo, it eats money fast, and when something goes wrong it usually costs a lot to fix....

Well people, I got my car baselined dynoed today and I am pissed. I am switching the engine first. My stock engine has had it. I am not going to put another red cent into it. I am doing an engine swap before I even think about forced induction. Thanks to everyone who replied.

Well to get that it's going to take some money...

D16 rods can take up to 225WHP...sometimes more....and the GReddy kit can give you ALOT better #'S then those.

No it was much worse than I could've ever imagined. I had 87.2hp at 5600 and 94.3ft lbs of torque 4200rpm. I am so dissapointed. My car pulls pretty good ever since I got the MSD ignition installed. I feel like I did all that for nothing.

i'm about too turbocharge my 98...my advice if yer not looking too spend huge amounts is too read alot and carefully peice together your own kit..thats what i did and it saved me alot of money and came more complete then the kits
