96 DX Upgrades
Hey all,
I come to you in need of help. I have been an extreme domestic lover for several years. However, right now I am stuck with a 1996 Civic DX 2dr Coupe.
I would like to purchase a foxbody mustang, but the insurance is through the roof for male teens.
I realize i might be stuck driving this 44mpg econo-box for awhile. I was wondering if i can do anything to it for significant HP/TQ gains.
Obviously I could do an engine swap, but that would cost me more than the car is worth, thus depleting the purpose of it. I am on a teenagers salary. I could buy a foxbody and spend 2g in mods and be in the 11's, but the insurance is just too expensive now.
If you have any ideas on what i could do, please tell me.

Re: 96 DX Upgrades (HeterHsan)
well in the domestic world, people do consider civics as trash. I like how it drives, its light, but its got 103hp....they would be great if honda doubled the HP...Does anybody have personal suggestions?

Maybe in your inbred moron domestic world people consider that but if you had more than three friends you might realize that "in the domestic world" there are a whole lot of poeple who do not consider them trash.
Click the search button if you want to learn something, and if you say that the Civic is trash then you can do us all a favor and unplug your keyboard and ship it to me.

Re: 96 DX Upgrades (94civicCx)
OT: i call bullshit on your statement that you can get a foxbody into the 11's with 2k... i have about 4 friends that are in the high to mid 12's with well over 5k and there on slicks..
i would just sell the civic, and give to someone that would appreciate its potental, not hate on it..

Re: 96 DX Upgrades (JDM-97CX)
wow, i can tell from your post you are obviously a child.
Trust me, I know many people in the domestic scene, especially here in chicago. I can honestly say the only civic i respect at this point and time is Cheesefrog's down in TX.
You made a dumb assumption that people who drive domestics are hicks? I would like you to explain yourself because the cars have more power, more torque, and more style than 99% of imports.

Re: 96 DX Upgrades (Slow_Boy)
wrong. 5.0 LX's are commonly in the 11's with ~2g in mods.
Theoretically you could put a large shot of dope to do it, ive seen people just slap a tornado on it and go 11's, also with the right cam/exhaust/heads/tires its EASILY in the 11s

I am obviously a child huh? Well you since we are going to bring age into it why don't I point something out that I noticed. You said that insurance is too much for a teenage driver and yet in your profile it says you are 28.
That is the only Civic you respect eh? Well that's too bad. Why don't you leave this site if all you are going to do is tell us how trashy Civics are.

If you knew how to read you would realize that I made the assumtion that you are an inbred moron. Never did I say that all people who drive domestics are hicks.

First of all style is a matter of opinion so you cannot bring that into it.
Second you are saying domestics in general have more power and torque than 99% of imports? So since you are so intelligent why don't you prove that?

Re: 96 DX Upgrades (rem177)
I have domestic friends that respect my "trashy" car. You are ignorant. Why would Honda double the horsepower on their ECONOMY car? The car was built for good gas milage and low pollution. If you want a Honda sports car buy a NSX or S2K. You obviously are crying to the wrong group of people. If you want a Mustang go buy one and take the ***-reaming on insurance.
11's with 2g's? What are you going to do? Install a 250 shot with 10 bottles and
hold the little button the whole way down the 1320?
I think you are on the wrong site.

Re: 96 DX Upgrades (Slow_Boy)
I saw this thread lingering around for like a half hour...with no bumps. Wonder why that is? Anybody here for more than 2 hours knows to search before posting, and don't want to waste their time saying what everybody already thinks (swap, turbo, etc, etc). Also, for future reference, it's not really that smart coming on a Honda forum and then say how much you hate them...just my opinion...

No, don't. He would be a discrace to a nice car.

Re: 96 DX Upgrades (JDM-97CX)
wow, you really have a spelling problem.
assumtion and discrace eh? Really shows the intelligence of people like you.
If Honda Civic's are economy cars, why do you tards even bother putting parts in em? I mean you spend 4-7g and swap in an engine with 170hp, its rediculous. Fast and the Furious wanna-be's.

Re: 96 DX Upgrades (Slow_Boy)
There are tons more fast domestics than fast imports. Most are either strictly economy cars or ricers.
As for head work, it is definitley not 2k alone, that is if you know what youre doing or know the right people.
