Do a DIY Rear-Wiper-Removal. Looks 100% cleaner.

Here's the basic how-to:

1: Pop up the hard plastic cap at the base of the rear wiper
(this can be tough, especially if it hasn't been off before [very likely])
2: Undo the nut on top, take off the whole wiper arm
3: Now you should have just a bolt sticking up.. time to open the hatch and remove the plastic. (It just pulls down, it's held in by clips.. you may need a screwdriver to pry it down, be careful with your paint.)
4: Unplug the plug to the motor, and remove the nuts/bolts holding in the wiper motor. Remove the motor.. be careful it weighs like 10lbs.
5: Put the molding back, and close the hatch.

Now you think you're done, right? WRONG!

You still have a huge hole in your rear glass.

Pop the hood, and look in the firewall next to the battery. Oh my... there's a plug that's the EXACT size of the hole in the rear window! Pop that SOB out, and throw it in the back window.

Don't forget to tape that hole up with some duct tupe (the universal fix), while you order another plug from http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net for $2.

That's it, $2 DIY job, makes the car look much cleaner, and eliminates the rear wiper that doesn't really help!

Unfortunately, this is actually a $7 plug after you account for their $5 per-order "handling fee". That's the only thing I don't like about that shop. So make sure you buy some other odds and ends while you're on there.

Personally, I don't understand why anyone would remove the rear wiper. I can't see anything at all through the rear window when it rains because it's so flat, and it's also helpful in the morning when there's dew all over the windows. There's also something cool about having a rear wiper when so few other cars do.

Unfortunatelty, I do no have a copy of the instructions for connecting the K&N universal filter to the stock filter elbow. And as you mentioned the website link listed on my website is temporarily unavailable (I hope on temporarily ). Basically, you just take the stock filter and remove the white filter material from the black filter elbow. Once all of the material has been removed the K&N filter can be attached to the black filter elbow flange.

BTW, here is a link to the text version of the K&N filter modification: http://216.239.53.100/search?q=cache...hl=en&ie=UTF-8

Hopefully the actual website will be back up in the next day or so.

If you have an ITR trunk brace laying around or you can get one cheap....I started this thread on how to put one in a GSR.

BSQ also has a DIY trunk brace bar that does just as good with bar stock bought at Home Depot.

Have Fun!

Indeed, now I do.

There are more at http://www.a-ocs.com/chris/wiper if you're interested.

Yeah, it's basically personal prefrence. I guess it all boils down to how you want your car to look, and wether or not you actually use/need the rear wiper. I have rain-x on my back window... the rain ends up just rolling off the window if you're doing anything more than 20mph. If the rear wiper had an intermittent setting, I'd have considered keeping it.. Also, I do my best to park the front of my car in the shade (FL sun is a bitch), which often means the rear window is directly in the sun. The rubber wiper doesn't like the sun, it likes to crack and get hard. This makes for a squeaky wiper that doesn't do much at all. Hence, the removal. As I said, it all boils down to personal prefrence, and my prefrence was to ditch it.

EDIT: Forgot to comment on the $5 handling fee. dwolsten is right about the handling fee, but if you're like me, there's at least a hundred dollars worth of little parts that need buying (screws, grommets, clips, hondabond, covers for the screws under the seats, i could go on for pages and pages) and in the end the $5 doesn't really affect much in the end. If this plug is the only thing you need, you'd probably be better off going to your local or dealer and getting it from them. Good luck.

I solved that problem a while ago... I'm selling intermittent rear wiper controllers on my web site. Hasn't been much demand for them though.

Wow, I just checked out dwolstens site. Some very cool DIY stuff! (DIY for an electrical engineer, that is ) If you're looking for some cool mods, check out his site... but be careful, it made me very jealous.

Check out dwolstens site here!

im going to get some foam, some dark grey cloth from a fabric store, and get rid of that awful plastic middle piece in our back seats.

Just gotta stick in the foam in there, wrap the cloth and stitch it under the seat. Shouldn't be that hard. Easily done in an afternoon.

Anyone else here ever tried it?

I've seen ITR axlebacks go for ~$100-120 locally. My plan is to try to get one for $100 and build my own B-pipe since I have a sedan.

Email me- if this price is reasonable to you.
