Rear shock mount bolt broke off...what to do?
Its that lower mounting bolt for the rear shocks, the head broke right off
Im in the process of drilling it out right now, any suggestions on how to get it out? I hear that i need a new bushing too, is that true and can i do it myself? Is the car driveable with that bolt head broken off? AAAHH!! This is the most frustrating thing EVAR!!!!1!!1

Nope its a 95 del sol...ive given up trying to work on it for tonight.
I hope one of these things work out-
1. Drill through the bolt until there is nothing left, then use a new one.
2. Some how grind off the lower part of the shock (part that has the bolt holes) Then just tap it through the other side
What do you guys think? Any other suggestions?

make sure that the bolt was not frozen in the bushing....i have seen that more then once (tags, 6g civics), if that is the case, cutting the nut (you know, the one welded on the shocks) would not likely to help the problem, I ended up sneaking in a hacksaw between the bushing and the shocks and cut the bolt on BOTH SIDES. (because the bolt was frozen inside the bushing, and just cutting one side and banging it out w/ a hammer does not work) If you are going to change your shockes anyways, just cut one of the legs off of the "n"
you need to press bushings out w/ a press, and press new bushings back in (prothane bushings and OEM bushings), or just use energy sus. bushings, (for those u re-use your old shells...which you burn the crap out of them, pop them out, and then just clean and install new bushings)

Both my rear shock bolts froze to the bushings. On one side the bolt head snapped off. On the other side, the bolt snapped in 1/2. In both cases, I removed the shock/lca assembly, broke the welds on the nuts, removed the nuts, and used a BFM and punch to drive the bolts through the bushings. Not fun, but it worked on both sides.
