A few questions about valve springs
first i did a search and i still have some questions
i have a 1st gen b16a and im going to be doing some repairs/mods, im taking the head off the motor and probally doing cams (skunk2s or ctrs). but keep in mind this car isnt going to be a race car a daily driver with some *****
i want to upgrade my valve springs and other valve train componets to handle the cams/ and also becasue the 12 year old springs should be upgraded
my questions are
1.)what springs to use, should i use the dual spring ITR setup or go skunk2?
2.) what else should i upgrade (retainers ect..)
3.) im kinda mechanically inclined but i never really opened up my motor before, how does one change the spring and check clearence, i didnt like my chiltons explination, does anyone know a good website or andvice
in advance thanks for your help

well IF you go with SK2 then I would go the whole way... cams, springs, retainers, gears, chip... IF you go ITR/CTR then I would just upgrade to some dual ITR springs and call it good.
re-do the whole valve train, doesnt matter what u use if u dont wanna race..and dont attempt to put the head back on youll *** it up..have someone paid to do it right....
it's pretty easy, just get a helm's manual and re-read the cylinder removal page like 20 times. some special tools you might need:
valve spring compressor, feeler gauges, timing light, valve adjustment tool, torque wrench.
valve spring compressor: http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/SP-91400.html
that's the tool i used. easy to use once you see the diagram. and it's on sale compared to snap-on, looks exactly like the snap on and it's not grey but red.
feeler gauges: buy at sears, you have to get the one with the 45° angle bend and has metric .005-.009
valve adjustment tool: http://buy.snapon.com/catalog/pro_de...re&dir=catalog
those are the tools i remember using when i rebuilt my head. also, you should have the basic tools, wrenches, sockets, etc, etc...oh yea, you'll need bandages and towel. i'm sure you can't get away without getting a scratch.
