Ok from from what i read and heard in the past, you cant smog jdm motors in California. But a friend of mine just blew his d16 so he looked at a jdm b18c and called the State Ref. They called him back and left a message on his answering machine saying that all he needs to do is replace the exhaust manifold, wiring harness, ecu, senors to USDM spec and bring it in to have it checked. Then they put a sticker near the shock tower that states it is smog legal.

So anyone ever called the state ref about this also? Anyone have their jdm motor legalized? Please dont reply if you dont have any REAL experience on this.

 

u can smog it just make sure it has all the corresponding smog device's on it and is the same year as the car or newer. shouldnt be a problem at all...
