Default Car suddenly turns off

Hey everyone... I kinda need your help. Once in a while, the idle does drop down to about 400 rpm but jumps back to normal. Today, I was waiting for a red light and the car just suddenly dies out. I tries starting it and it did crank but didnt start. I waited for about 2 mins and tries again and the car started. This happened 3 times today and I was checking the car and I see the oxygen sensor kinda worn. Do you guys think it is the oxygen sensor? Will the car run without or with a broken oxygen sensor? Because the car drives normally, well usually. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Hey that happens to me too. I'm still unsure of the answer. Does this also happen to you, it would crank and the engine would turn on, and then 1 second later it shuts off?

I wait about 2 mins and then when I turn it on it works, strange.

the idleing may be the EGR and the shutting off part might be the qxygen sensor or something to do with fuel not getting there.

is it possible for a car to run with a broken oxygen sensor or run without one?

check w/your nearest honda dealership, there is a recall for the ignition in ludes, but in most cases the cars were turning off on the freeway

I had the ideling prob you are talking about, but my car never shut off, once I got the ignition replaced, I never had the idleing prob again...

the ignition switch is free to replace, since its a recall. safety issues.

Check your fuel filter(s) depending on your gen. I have a 2nd gen and my car would suddenly turn off, then after a while it would start back up - it turned out to be the fuel fileters.

another thing to check if it's older is the main relay. On the old ones, the soldering starts to crack and it has a bad connection.

Good luck

free ignition replace? did you buy your car off of previous owners or did you buy it from a dealership? i bought mine from someone so I'm not sure if the dealership would cover it for me for free.

it's a recall thing, not a warrantee thing, honda will do it for free, just call them and tell them you need to have the recall work done, i had mine replaced this week, as wel as the lower ball joints, for free
