Rebuilding Tranny
How much do you guys think it would cost to fix a tranny that has problems with 2nd and 3rd gear. 2nd gear grinds (guessing its synchro) and 3rd doesn't always go in (guessing synchro again, maybe worse). Reason i'm asking is because im considering purchasing an ef, but it has these problems. Motor is 1st gen B16, with ~50k miles. TIA.
Repair kit cost around $175 plus consider the labor for about $60 per hour (2 1/2 hour job)...or you can just buy a rebuilt or used tranny for $500. Good luck
A common problem with the EF's is that the engine mounts are getting old and worn out, causing too much slop in the shifter and not allowing it to go into gear. Before wasting money on a big transmission project, check out all of the engine mounts, especially the rear one. Energy Suspension makes a shifter bushing kit that can tighten things up nicely, they also make an Engine mount bushing kit.
edit: sorry, didn't see that it was a b16, the mounts should already be polyurethane, but it wouldn't hurt to inspect them. and the tranny is going to be a JDM unless it's from a 90-93 Integra. JDM trannys need JDM rebuild kits, might be hard to get a hold of stateside, and it would probably be cheaper to get another trans.

Where would you get such a tranny rebuild kit? Im assuming that youre getting one for a b series cable clutch tranny such as the 90-93 Integra, or are we talking the 92-93 GSR, but isnt that one a hydro transmission?

above you said its a 1st gen B16? and then you said its a 92... that would be 2nd gen 5 series... are you confuzed? either way, block, and trans are same mounts, thus the 92 being hydrolic.. either way, i doubt the mounts.. shop for a tranny. in so cal, cables are going for 550 Y1, hydro's 650... YS1 with LSD 750!!!!!!
