cant figure out how to mount my short ram
I know this sounds stupid, but I cant figure out how to mount it so that its sturdy.
my parents bought me a Vibrant Short Ram intake for christmas, I got the filter on fine, and I got the pipe connected to the throttle body, but the filter end is really loose. The intake came with two metal brackets but I cant figure out how they go on there, there are no holes on the intake for them to even attach on.
also, since its so loose it hangs down and rests on top of the positive battery terminal.
anybody have any good ways to mount these things so that they stay in one spot without bouncing around??

hey where in ontario are u located, seems like the long bracket could wrap around the intake tube and be attached to ur strut tower using sheet metal screws
Optiks - I'm in sudbury, about 4 or 5 hours north of you. my grandparents live in london though. And I though maybe that long strap does wrap around there, then it mounts onto that smaller bracket which bolts into one of the holes from the old airbox.
Forever JDM - I think I'd rather mount it, cause I wouldn't really want it bouncing around and hitting my battery, not very safe if u ask me. even if I covered the battery terminal with those rubber terminal cover things, it would probably still be pretty loose
Slowman EF - your valve cover looks identical to mine, lol. is that mounted on there at all? or is it just sitting there?? I cant see where you mounted it if u did. also, your battery terminals are on the opposite side of mine, maybe if i just switched my battery around, so that the terminals are on the opposite side, as long as my positive cable will reach that far, that may solve the terminal problem though
anybody else ever had a similar situation??

i dunno but that intake looks like its for a diff car..cause all the ones i have had for an ef have curves...i would say it looks like a 92-95 but the dont go that close to the fender at least on my 95 it doesnt
edit: I just checked their website and I got the same part as the listing says it should have. 88-91 civic DX/CX/LX. so unless the part was boxed wrong, this is probably the right part

heres the thing....... u dont have to mount the intake. the problem is u have a dx and the throttlebody or whatever on a dx sits a lil farther back because it has that wierd intake manifold. my intake rests on my fender and wraps around next to the battery right there. imo i say its just time to do a battery relocation!!!
XEF-8X - actullay, this intake was made for the DX, not the Si. If it were made for the Si, than that would be my problem, but it isn't
anyways, I figured out how to fix it, I used the small bracket with the 90 degree bend, it bolted into one of the stock holes from the old airbox, so I put a piece of rubber about a cm thick on top of it. Then I drilled a hole on top of the bracket and used a tie-strap to hole the intake pipe against the bracket. holds up great now and doesn't hit the battery post anymore.
heres a pic of how it turned out
just wanted to say thanks to everyone that tried to help and put ideas into my head

Is your whole tranny blue?
, and in case you're wondering , I painted them blue cause my interior's blue. and why the valve covers red then?? I have no idea, red was just the first color that came to mind, lol[Modified by Hcivic88, 5:28 PM 12/27/2002]
Well the little L shaped thing goes under one of the hose clamps, and the bolt hole attatches to the long strap, which you bolt to the car.
