aftermarket thermostat... for lower temps..
does this really make a difference in the way the car runs...
i've recently sign after thermostats in lists of performance upgrades in some magazines..
i'm wondering if its something worth getting...
want some input...

makes a difference if your car is setup to handle it. With a lower temp thermostat, you also need to have the fan come on sooner. The problem with this, is that if you get the engine too cold, the ecm will never come out of cold start, which means you'll never get vtec, proper fueling, etc.. If you have a stanalone, it shouldnt be a problem.
I wouldn't recommend it for a daily driver, especially in the winter months. Your car will take longer to warm up to normal operating temperatures.
Just top off your fluids with a 50/50 mix and add a little Redline Water Wetter. That should be sufficient.

i guess a lower temp thermostat is necesary if you raise the compresion of your engine, i guess that's the only really good excuse for one, but for people like me that lives in a country where it is 80-90 all year round could be a good idea too. But i guess that running my car with the stock recommended colder plugs is enough, so if you really want to put a lower temp thermostat, get an aftermarket gauge and start monitoring temp, and find out what temp range your motor is made for, and after that, you'll know if you need it or not.
Hope it helps
