MY hood is getting dull. No as shiny anymore. Should I buff it or spray clear coat on it? What's the difference?

 

Have the hood clear coated. Buffing won't really put a shine on it. The clear coat makes it look brand new.

 

Thanks a lot. When you put clear coat, do you just spray it on? No sanding needed right?

color match...? just throw a clear... if you want it to blend in more with the car,, slap a pearl on it.... i have a red pearl on my cf hood... but i also have a kandy paint job...

 

i think u should just paint match it.. nothing looks stupider than a mismatching body panel

 

I'm just going to clear coat it. My car is already black. I don't want to paint match my hood.

No you just can't spray clear on it. You should wet sand the entire hood with 600grit paper first. Then you can spray the hood. Since you really don't seem to knowledgable in the paint dept I suggest you have a reputable shop do this for you. If you mess it up you will be sorry. If you need any other help just IM me.

Funny you should say that. Just because I don't post here often doesn't mean I don't know about painting. I paint everyday and it is part of my living so truse me I know. Ask anyone else on here who paints and they will tell you the same thing. I guess that 2 years of autobody & Paint classes at Tech school showed me nothing. You need to learn that just because you have more posts than someone that doesn't make you more knowledgable in all areas.

 

I don't know **** about painting. That's why I'm asking. I'm not stupid enough to go paint my own hood.
