How to clean rear bumper?
I have a 01 PY ITR and like most the exhaust smokes. It is so bad that no matter how much i clean the bumper there is still a black tint to my bumper. You really cant notice it that much till u get a few feet from it but it still bothers me. So does anybody know the best method of cleaning it off. The only way i am able to penetrate it is by scratching it off with my fingernail but i dont want to use a brush because it might scratch my paint. Any info will be appreciated.
Sounds like you need to use a claybar
Claybar won't do sweet **** all. You need a chemical solvent - that stuff is oil based exhaust residue. Try orange oil solvent/cleaner and if that doesn't work - an abrasive based paint cleaner like McGuire's pre-wax cleaner.

same car, same problem. I use castrol purple cleaner. spray it on, let it sit for 10 seconds, wipe it off. comes out bright yellow. I then apply new wax. I use meguiars gold class and it keeps it clean with just a soap wash for 3 weeks. you will see the black soot drip off as it cleans it.
I've also used a plastic polish on my bumper. It has a mild abrasive in it and works quite well. Be sure to keep afresh coat of wax on the rear and it will wash off much easier
Simple Green. If that doesn't get it off use Castrol Super Clean (purple stuff).
Don't let it sit too long and be sure to rinse it off with water.
