my DC headers are cracked.....
I just found out that my DC ceramic headers have a crack in them, i noticed because i was setting my timing and when the motor was on i heard a deep sound coming out of the headers. It sounded like ****, but it wasnt too loud. I think its cracking because i dont have the bracket that goes under the header that holds it in place... i just wanted to know if i am losing horsepower because of this crack?? and can i just weld it shut??? the actual size of the crack looks something like this
"___________" but it is vertical... it starts where two of the pipes come together...

some places call it Headers, Header, Hedders, Hedder.. who cares.. u get the point!
BTW i dont think u can actuall y weld the Ceramic coated DC.. and if so u going to have to sand it down and weld, and then coated it again, if not actually rust can develop ....

A buddy of mine just brought his header to a machine shop to get it fixed, it had a really bad crack where 2 of the pipes met. It was ceramic coated but the guy at the shop had to strip the coating off to weld it. The guy was nice enough to use some high heat (1200+) silver engine paint to protect it and make it look all perty again. The header has been on for about 3 weeks now and still looks great
Contact DC Sports.... the welds on a buddy of mine's headers cracked/were poor and he called them.... they said send it back we'll send you a new one.

Had the same thing happen to me. You can get a RMA number from DC Sport and be without a header for over a month or have a muffler shop weld it back. I had a muffler shop weld it back.
Crxtreme27 email me at dtc89@aol.com and i can give you the details. Or goto Motorsport in Hayward ask for Dan he will be able to tell you if he can weld it back or not. They use to do a lot of honda acura mods there. They are a low key honda/acura specialists now. good luck
