Default concerns for H22 boost

I just got a JDM H22A which has a cr of 10.6. I was planning to slap a cometic or rIDEAL head gasket on to drop the cr just under 10.0. Which that compression ratio, how much boost do you think I will be able to run on the stock internals max, without having to worry about my ring lands. I've been hearing bad things about H22 ring lands. Maybe the JDM ones are stronger....I hope

h22 dont come with very strong inteanls. i recommends that you resleeve it and get some low compresion piston and some rods.

Even putting a thicker head gasket I don't think you'll drop your compression but a few tenths (maybe down to 10.3:1). I'm running an H22A1 with a cometic headgasket (as thick as they make them) with over sized stock pistons and I'm running 7psi daily with no problems. I could probably push 11psi. I say you shouldn't go more than 8 or 9psi mainly becuase of the ringlands. I learned the hard way.

I heard that the RIDEAL head gasket that FMAX uses will drop my compression .75. So that should drop it from 10.6 to about 9.8 or so.

i have an inlinepro headgasket and my compression on my h22 is 170 which is about 9:1 compression . some say its safe to run at about 11psi and others say no. Its all about tuning!!!

I wouldn't go over 10 psi on a stock block. Even then that is pushing it.

I pushed my stock block to 14 a couple of times but I wouldn't recommend it. It will definitely handle it, but it's not something you would want to do on purpose. At least my excuse was a problematic wastegate.

man, jus do it right the first time. i dont' know what sense there is in risking this kind of ****. too many people don't bother to do it right then they end up spending more $$$ on something that could have been prevented in the first place.

I'm going to have to agree w/ "El_Presidente". Do it right the first time no matter how long it takes (if your serious about it), you'll save your self a lot of money, time and headaches in the long run. I do believe that there's a guy on here on HT that was in the "Honda Tuning" magazine with his FMAX 5th gen. Prelude and ran 12psi daily with stock internals and I believe a Inline-pro headgasket.
