Default Just installed Apexi Dunk

Just as the topic says. Sorry, I don't have pics yet. I love the look, although it is a little big. My only complaint is that around 1-2k the exhaust rattles it I barely apply the throttle. Is this happening because the tip is just so big or what? Is the hanger loose? I'm sure this is common w/ any exhaust. Any help would be great.

I used to have that exhaust. Scraped everywhere. The tip is aggresive looking but just too big for my taste. I never had any problems about rattle, but you may want to jack up the car on stands and have a buddy floor the car and see where the rattle is. It may also be rattling from the resonator in the inside.

Thanks, I think I found the problem. Unfortunately I am out of town now. I did a search last night and found it was probably a heat shield. when I shook the piping I noticed it hitting at part of the heat shield. It was and I bent it out of the way. I only let it idle, and it sounded normal. Thanks for the help.

BTW, the Dunk is freakin awesome. It is the only exhaust I have heard on a NA setup that is so deep. All I have right now is stock headers and cat, w/ the dunk bolted on, and it is great. I would highly reccommend getting one of these if you can find one anymore. I hope when I putmy test pipe on next week it won't change the sound much. If it does i'll take it off and get a high flow. Thanks again.

I have a testpipe on my 96 GSR right now w/ Apex'i intake/header/exhaust (dunk) and its not really loud outside the cabin. It is very deep outside the car and buzzy at high RPMs, but not loud like an n1 or any other canister muffler.

That is how I felt. The dunk isn't nearly as loud as some exhuasts, but it is deep and bassy as hell. Can feel it in the cabin. I actually wouldn't mind a slight buzz at high rpms. Does it sound ricey or nice w/ the test pipe? Is your rear bumper ruined now?

If your not on the track, always use a cat. Why contribute to global warming?

the apex dunk tip size is why people make fun of imports.. it is the true definition of a grapefruit shooter

go ahead and buy some hearing aids, cuz you'll be needing them in a few months.

Yes, the dunk is discontinued. And, yes the tip is huge on the dunk. But, it is no bigger than most N1 tips I see around.

Come on guys, I think the dunk sounds awesome, better than most exhausts I hear around here in Augusta.

Agreed!

When i installed mine i had the same problem with the heatshield. Too my suprise, when i took it off, it still made noise. The catback piping was rubbing up against the bottom sidewalls. I went to a muffler shop to fix it. Damn Valley Muffler. It was gone for a month or two and it came back.

The dunk is bad ***. I thought it would have been louder, but as the "stuffing" inside the exhaust burned out, it gets a little bit quieter. Weird. Also, i ripped a portion of the gasket connecting to the cat. Does anyone know where i can get a 2.25 inch gasket? No luck yet.

Care to donate $150 my way? I'll see how this test pipe goes. If it plain out sucks I'll use some christmas money to get one. I can't wait to get home tomorrow and listen to my car growl!! I also noticed the piping is not only really close to the heat shields, but also the underside of the car. I'll see what happens tomorrow and let you know.

I believe the GT spec is like 3.5 in piping and for huge turbo use only, like bad *** supras and whatnot. I don't know if they make that as a universal muffler or rear section.
