tach installation
hello everyone i need help installing my new tach can someone tell me what to hook where i hooked the red wire its getting power. i hooked the other black wire to the ground. the white wire goes to the lamp switch but i dont know why im not getting a readin it says here in the instruction manual to hook to the ignition coil? not sure exactly where to put it its like one black wire coming from it and two other wires. uhhmmm where do i put the green wire thats on my tachometer? i see im getting no rpms on it at all im stumped help please?
can you tap it into the harness on the back of the cluster.. where your normal tach is ? on the back of the cluster. there are three plugs get the one that heads to the tach and tapp it there.. i suppose
red wire is your power. it goes to your ignition so when you turn the car on it sends power to the tach, just like the accessory does to your stereo. The green wire is the wire that gets signal to display rpms. Just pull apart your dash and wire it up to the wire that goes to your factory tach. That would be the easiest way. On my truck i didn't have a factory tach so i had to wire into the ignition coil.
try to put more info in your topic titles. if you list what the problem is more people will look at it instead of just saying "need help"

wait a minute guys hold one there i dont really have the time to take apart the whole freakin cluster cant i just hook it up to the coil where the green wire is supposed to be i dont wanna go to there i already had one bad experience. for example i caused one needle to get stuck and all which wasnt pretty. whatever happened to the expert experience
um.....i don't have the wiring diagram but if you can find someone or buy one then that would tell you. and it will be faster taking the cluster apart then drilling a hole in the firewall and finding the wiring in there.

it would also be nice if u could type half way decent. all the stuff u type is hard to read, cuz we cant tell where one sentence ends, and another starts. first try typing good sentences, then maybe u will get some good info back.
okay im gonna break it down. okay im lookin at the coil right now and from the spark plug near the distributor theres a green ring where the sparkplug connects to the coil. now the coil leading towards the connectors has three wires behind them they are yellow, yellow and black. there is another opening that goes there
but no wire is present which looks normal. now there is another connector leading towards the firewall with a yellow, black and a blue wire. And there moving from the firewall near the distributor just below it is two connectors with a bunch of wires they are right side by side where do i plug my green tach wire onto it .
the wire with the blueish or greenish i have mentioned before thats with the yellow and black one. it leads towards the back of the headcover facing front.
