i don't really like them as much. for $200, you can get a seperate 10", build a box, and get a small amp for it. but if you don't feel like building anything (its fun!) and need just bass, but not heart pounding ground shaking bass, then they will do.
bass links are the biggest waste of money there is out there. they sound bad, and they .... yeah they do sound bad. not very loud, not a clean sound at all, and especially no bass. there is so many other bass options out there for the money you will spend on one of theese things. please do your home work and look else where for a solution, other than a basslink. goodluck!
well i did a search on caraudioforum.com, and from the 9 pages of responses, what i mostly read what that they sounded great and cant smote it, kinda a different response from what im getting here.
i am responding from experience. i am an installer of 5 years. i have installed about 8 of them and 6 people had them removed and exchanged for a single 10" sub and amp usually because they were not impressed with the sound they provided. the first one i installed was a prototype unit that our old sales manager who became a rep for infinity gave one of our salesman to demo and give test results didnt work out of the box. even when it was swapped for a new one it stayed on for about 10-15 minutes after turning the car off and had terrible noise. the legs are a pain in the azz to put on some times. i have had few customers that were satisfied with them also. just a bad taste left from the bad ones i guess. i just think that you can spend your money on something else and be much happier.
i'm with peichie on this one as well; I'm not a hardcore SPL bass fan by any means, and if your looking for some more depth to your music there are much better investments than the basslink. A decent 12" in a small box, and an amp will not only give you the expansion ability for the future; but will also satisfy your needs for today.
I too have seen the wonderful reviews, and I personally like Infinity Products; but still cringe at the insane markup on that basslink package.

Sorry for what seems like another shameless plug but I would get a adire audio Shiva for 125$ build your own box which will cost you around I would say 25$ maybe depending on how cheap you can get stuff. And a JBL 600.1 amp. There you go a GREAT sounding package for around 300$. But that is just my opinion. I do have a 25.5L Shiva box lying around my house for sale for 55$ if you want plus shipping. It is 13.5"x13.5"x13.5" and will not leak and so on. It was made for the Shiva from designs I got directly from Adire. But if you want I will sell it to you. But you are probably going to have more fun and get a bit of experience from making your own box.
alpine type s, infinity refrense, mtx 6000, polk gnx, kicker comp. i have a brand new polk 12" 4 ohm sub if you would like to buy it. i would sell it for $50 if you would like. as far as an amp you could go with alpine's v-power series, or an mtx amp if you are looking for something decent without breaking the bank.
Personally I have heard all of those subs and I don't like any of them. That is just my taste. The only Alpine I like is the Type R. But as for a V-power series amp. Alpines amps are OVERPRICED if you ask me. I would give a look into the set up that I listed above. Personally I don't like any of the stuff you listed but then again my ear is different from anyone elses. It boils down to what he wants not what I want since he is spending the money.
sorry man, but i was giving lower priced options for the guy. those are some of the brands i sell at the store that i work at, and they sell very well. i am not telling him what to buy, just giving some lower priced options that i am familair with and KNOW that will sound pretty good. to each his own i guess.
cheaper sub...infinity reference are pretty cheap...I dont think they sound too bad...you can grab a 10" or 12' off of ebay pretty cheap
i think you can get much better sound for a little more money (providing you want to give up more space...basslink has passive radiator)
but for people that are very concerned about space and dont want to make all kinds of decisions about subs, boxes, amps, etc. and just want a simple solution that gives them a good sound for their money, the basslink is an excellent choice.
Concerning peichie's remark...i used to work in CC Roadshop and ive sold around 20 of these since they came out 2 years ago and ive had only 1 customer return it for an upgrade.

I wasn't dissing your choices or anything man. I was stating that I have listened to them all and I did not like the sound. I mean if that is what he likes then by all means I hope he enjoys it. I like you am making a suggestion. To me the Shiva is a great buy. But personally if he wants great SQ and so on then I say that he should go for the Shiva.
As for the Basslink I know quite a few people that use it and they enjoy it. There is a few people on CSi that are using the basslink and they like it. It is not for me and personally I don't enjoy it but it is for those that want an alternative to a big box amp and also Bazooka.

might want to look at the elemental design k-series. performance is equivalent (handles more power though=more SPL) and uses smaller box. price is about the same as the shiva. if you have more than 2.5cubic feet sealed, go with the shiva, if not, go with the k-series.
Who wants SPL? No SPL I think he said that he is wanting SQ more so and everything as he said he doesn't want something really loud. But the ED stuff is alright. A friend of mine works for em and is pretty nice and all. Still prefer Adire though.
