NEED HELP: Motor burning MAJOR oil!
This is for a 1993 Honda Civic CX Hatch. stock everything. 127k on it
Alright, I just bought the car about 4 days ago. I knew the car was in bad shape, but didn't know the motor was in this bad of shape. Here is my problem. The car EATS oil like it's it's job. I mean real bad, I checked my oil tonight and after only 4 days of driving, it was completely empty! Lucky for me I checked. The car plumes smoke if I let it rev high. I was thinking it could be the Head Gasket but was told that would have nothing to do with the oil. So I am lost, any suggestions as to what I should check/fix. All I am really worried about is passing E-check, and I know it won't in the condition it's in now. Thanks so much for your help!
Scott
P.S. I know I should know this by now, but I'm stupid.

I've never done this...
What do I look/listen for? How can I tell if it's bad. And if it is bad, is it a bitch to fix? How much does it cost... blah blah blah. I am sorry but I am just beginning to learn the stuff. Thanks!

Lucky for you, D series engines are cheap... esp. CX motors... You could prob. find a low milage (100k) for around 150 bucks... check around here bro.
If you burn smoke on deceleration its your valve seals, upon acceleration its your rings, I went through the same drama. Throw that cx motor in the trash and pick up a newer one for like $200 total. I bought my 2000 d16y7 for $150 included everything.....even tranny lol

Motor swap is VERY soon, but the thing is that I still have to pass e-check since I just bought the car. Are Piston Rings relatively easy to fix?

Don't waste your time doing the rings if you are planning a swap. If you can't afford to do the swap you want right now, do yourself the favour, and just grab a CX engine, and toss it in the car, you'll pass the E check no problem, and you should be able to do the swap in less than 1 day (if you have the right tools, and knowledge) and go from there. Then save your money for the swap you want. for what it's worth, I just bought a car that burns oil like you are describing, and I am throwing a new CX engine into it tomorrow....
