My Lude is Burnin oil ..... please help
It starts like this i went on a big cruz this weekend and my friends told me when i hit vtec it would smoke and smell bad . when i got home i checked my oil and noticed it was very low i had checked it before the cruz and had 2 put a lil in, but when i got home it was very low. now when the car is ideling smoke comes out of the exhaust just like its burning oil the motor is running fine seemed a lil week on the ride home from the cruz assumeing thats from the low oil other the that it idels fine and all , no knockin sounds nice overall. this is all on a 1995 Prelude vtec with 147 K on it. im trying to figure out what i need 2 replace before this problem gets serious. please help

Re: (chitownrida)
you need to replace ur spell check.
do a compression test. does it smell like oil is burning? is it white smoke or black smoke? it might be a head gasket and ur losing oil thru there. check ur coolant and see if it looks like milkshake.

how much oil did you need to put in? and how much was lost after the trip? how far was the trip and were you driving it like mad? smoke commonly comes out of the exhaust... and if it's black smoke you see that is fuel. i believe oil is blue iirc heh..
typically most luders lose about a quart a month depending how hard you drive heh

i never said i was low on oil lol..funny bunny.
i sometimes might lose 1.5 quarts. it all depends on how much i like to go WOT. i check it every 500 miles or so, just to make sure my engine is happy and isnt starving for oil.

bill, i doubt its your piston rings, prolly a headgasket. check your oil and radiator overflow and see if they have a milky color to them, also what color is the smoke? that can help a great deal when trying to pinpoint what it is. also i dont think it is too uncommon to burn oil at vtec or when driving like a dick. do a compression test, change ur spark plugs as well , they prolly havent been changed in a while.
