Timing issues
Looking to get a little more horsepower out of the F22B2 engine during a rebuild. I'm thinking about going with the GUDE head package, but I've read that they mill the head to raise the compression, and I'm worried about timing problems with the OHC engine. Will the tensioner take up the added slack, or am I looking at trouble?
rabbit do i know you from somewhere are you from newyork did you get caught racing by the cops. i think i know you , own a honda civic right? im sorry if i offended you in anyway if you are where can i get a good engine from cause i hear you do alot of work on your cars if your not please reguard what i have said .
also do you know how to set the timing for my accord i dont even know how to do it bro my accord says 15 drgrees minus 2 or 15+ -2 degrees and im tryin to get that 65 shot goin for nitrous. tis the season people. speakin of people dont order anything from speedpeople they are full of crap. they made me wait three weeks on back order and cancelled without my autorization what a rip-off.

The adjustable cam gear will be used, but that just allows me to advance/retard the timing at the cam gear. I'm worried about the slack in the timing belt created by milling the head. They say the head raises the CR from 8.8-1 to 10.8-1. With a two point increase, they must be milling the **** out of the head.

The tensioner takes all the slack out of the belt.....unless your bolting on a H22 head you'll be fine.
They'll hit the valve seats before you have a problem with the belt.
I would be worried, however, about not having a cam gear.....if you dont already.

im running the gude head package on my 91 accord. i have had it for several years now and dont actually have any complaints. i do know that it doesnt increase the power to the claimed #. i only paid about 900 bucks for the kit so i guess the price has gone up if its 1500 now. i did get the adjustable gear as well although its only adjustable +/- 5 degrees. i was actually the first person to have a gude cam gear for an f22 so they may have more adjustablility now, like i said, its been quite a while. i just advanced mine all the way up and havent touched it since, i dont know if its improved or hurt power, it did feel like it gave me a bit more top end power. this winter i intend on visting the dyno to play with cam and base timing so i can utilize the adjustablitly. i may end up switching the cam gear out for one with more available advance/retard if i feel its necc.
i rebuilt the bottom end to stock specs at the same time as the head install. if i were you, i would request a newer 92+ intake mani with the big plenum. also, you can piece a similar kit together yourself with mix match parts. for example, have a local place do a port job, mill, and valve job on the head, get a web, jg or other brand cam, match port the intake mani and t-body. just price every option before dealing w/ gude. it took me about 13 months to get my core money back and that was only because i threatened legal action.
good luck.
