help - 1997 accord lx - why isn't the car moving?
alright, today me and a few other friends returned a 1997 accord to stock suspension, in the process of doing that, the passenger side axle came out, it un-seated itself @ the inner cv boot (the one next to the tranny), we fixed it, refilled it w/ proper lubricant, and installed new boot rings, we wrap up the install, no issues, guy's car starts up, he leaves, me & my buddy are cleaning up and he comes back to tell us the car's not moving now...
he made it about 100ft then the car refused to function any further, when we went to look, i asked him to try to drive it.. it's a 5spd, he put's it into 1st and lets out the clutch, engine rev's but car does not move... so i decide o.k., we'll bleed the clutch, perhaps this wil help.. so we bleed to clutch.. still no movement from the car.
now i do not want to be blamed for the kid's car not working, @ no point did me or any of my friends drive his car or do anything with his transmission, closest we got to it was the passenger axle...
so what could be causing this, i'll probally be meeting up w/ him to look @ the car, and i wanna have some kinda answer for the cause. thanx

did you ck the teeth on the axle to see if they were still there and also did you slide the alxe all the way back in for it to grab?
Just be sure the axle did not walk its way out from the tranny.
good luck

we took special care to not damage the teeth on the axle, and it's in there, how do you know if it's 'all the way in', and how do you go about makin sure it get's all the way in?
and also, if the axle was the culprit, the accord would still drive, but only with one wheel powering the movement no?

On some cars if one of the axles are out or not connected to resistance the car won't move, as for yours, I dunno.
As for making sure it was seated properly, did you spin it and see if the other wheel moved?, also while the car was up in the air did you ck the tranny fluid?
Some cars will shut down if NO fluid in the tranny- (from I have been told).

when fixing his suspension it involved removing his camber kit, when my buddy did that on the passenger side the control are went toward the outside of the wheel well, that's when it unseated itself from the cv in the tranny
you will know when the cv is in when it is kinda hard to push in it kinda has a little resistance and all you have to do is push it further in and it will make a click. I had the same problem when i replaced my cluch and transmission. It also is a 5spd. Good luck. Also is he willing to sell his camber kit. I just lowered mine not to long ago and all it does is eat tires.

It's probably the axle not seated in the tranny. If both axles are not all the way in and connected, the tranny will just spin the differential. Make sure the cv joint is up against the tranny (no gap). Either that or the axle came apart again. Check that first.
