Default Almost ready pics (a lot) of setup...question about Walbro install! ...

BACKRGROUND:

Below are some pics of what i've been collecting over the past couple years.
I have a zdyne gold, a brand new T-25 that hopefully will give me some decent
power...also have reconditioned 450's. Waiting on my blitz bov to come and
my oil return flange from Jon at the Dropshop. You should hopefully be able
to see the downpipe he made for me in one of the pics. I'm happy with it -
haven't got a chance yet to test fit it however. Quality of the downpipe looks
pretty top notch and he included a bung with it as well as I will be using the HF
manifold for the O2 sensor. There is a plug in there now. I had the Starion
intercooler rewelded with aluminum Volvo tubes on the side. Volvo's and
Saab's are where i've been sourcing a majority of the piping which is all
smooth bent pipe and most have some neat silicone couplings, bends,etc...
like on the intercooler as shown. Managed to get an almost new ZC oil pan
as well to work on the return line. All lines are stainless steel and carbon
steel fittings for the oil. The plate is from Gary and Randy's site, fits up
nicely...hope there are no exhaust leaks. I've already got the ZC in there...
almost in its 7th year and i've put close to 100,000 miles on it myself. The
car has about 300k on it and is in great condition.

QUESTION:

Can anyone enlighten me more on the walbro install as far as using larger
gauge wire for the larger amp draw it uses...this is a 255lph made for the
civic / crx. I've found out from most that it needs more current to operate
and it's necessary to install a relay and larger wire. I need help on how to
do this and as to how to wire up the relay, where to get the power, and what
kind of relay to get. If you have pics, info, anything on the install of this
pump and wiring please let me know...

Any comments on my setup please let me know also, it's all going on in a
couple days. Haven't had a chance to work on the car since school consumes
about 99% of my time! Ahhhhhh, time for a friggin' break.

Been around here for years...just haven't posted in almost that long!
Always working on projects and seeing what I can fit where...man I
hope all this turbo stuff is worth it, can't imagine my car being any
faster (eh, and it ain't) than it is now...anybody know about the
Walbro install? What happens when I just replace it with the stock
one and change nothing else? Need sleep.

i never heard of having to use thicker wire w/ the walbro? or a relay for that matter. yiu normally just replace it w/ the stock pump.

also as far as i knew walbro didnt make a pump for the 4th gen civic's, i could be wrong on that. i know my nephew had a jackson racing pump on his 91 crx and they had to mod the line in the tank or something to make it fit.

btw nice goodies, trust me once you go FI you wont believe how much more faster your car is, then when you drive someone elses NA car you'll chuckle on how much slower it is....

Regarding the parts, lol...

The corner of my room in my apartment is where I stacked those parts for about 2 years...slowly the stack would get bigger and bigger and I would rearange it now and then to make it look better...many nights I would fall asleep staring at the intercooler wishing how it was on my car. I had lots of drawbacks and little amounts of time to even go parts shopping, but somehow I ended up with new stuff. The zdyne sat in the box for it seems probably a year. I can't tell you how
long i've been waiting to do this...I'm hoping this week is the time! Haha, that sounds crazy....................

Any other comments on the Walbro? I know other people have done this!

I'm not saying not put in the new pump , but most of the Z dyne tunes are for 36psi fuel pressure. I have built cars with 250+ WHP with the stock pump. Remember with the Z dyne you won't be running monster fuel pressure with the 450 cc injectors. Hope this saves you an afternoon laying under the car with the fuel tank on your chest and gas everwhere !

Default Here's the problem...

The pump is 300k old almost and with the digital gauge and the aem regulator the higest pressure it will hold under throttle is barely 35psi and then it drops down like it's worn out...is there a disadvantage to putting it in? I mean I know it can't hurt can it?

300k on the stock pump, that's old, especially w/ the new FI set-up, you have to make sure your fuel system is up to par...you have the 255, don't hesitate to put it in...the only reason I'm hesitant is because I'll be switching the stock pump in whenever I smog the car...that's why I may forgo the 255 and see how far my stock in-tank and MSD in-line will take me...

i just cut off the harness and spliced the wires onto the 255 pump, works fine.

BTW mine is for a DSM, but im sure the wiring is exactly the same.
