Just go to a gas station and tell them you lost your gas cap. Go through their lost and found and find one that you like

Or you can spend $6.00 at an auto parts store.

What year car do you have, and how many miles? I believe that it is an emission related item, and the dealership has to warranty any emission related equipment for XX miles, and XX years.

Austin - who could be wrong with that, but doesn't think so

Jersey is ******* retarded. My friends S2000 failed because of that gas cap crap, and because apparently "S2000's dont come with HID headlights". Or so the inspection station said. So my friend had to go to a dealership, get a brochure and prove that they did come with them. Not only that, but when they put the car up on the lift thing, they didnt realize it was rear wheel drive. ******* tools Jersey is worthless POS. Not only that, but its a haven for theives, and they struck my ITR recently.

Ryan, who does not like jersey, at all.

It is a big deal for the vapor recovery system on your gas tank if your gas cap does not seat correctly. If you forget to put it on and drive away the check engine light will come on because the ECU sees and error code for the emission system in your car.

Actually Austin, that does sound right, but I'd imagine it wouldn't even be worth the hassle of dealing with the warranty department for a $6 part

Worth a try though I suppose

Could be something else....maybe the vapor recovery system isn't working correctly.
