PLEASE HELP Clutch might be going!
Ok to start off my car is a 1997 Prelude with just under 30,000 miles. My brother told me recently that my clutch was slipping in 2nd gear and I noticed it also. Tonight as I was pulling in my driveway, as i was releasing off the clutch i heard a sort of creaking noise you know like when you push down on a tight spring? I was wondering if anyone had any idea what this could be? I have never heard that before.
Please help! I do not want to be stuck somewhere with my car without a clutch especially at Christmas time!

Damn, less than 30k on a 97' wanna trade? If the car has always been driven hard its possible to mess up a clutch in that amount of time, especally a stock clutch. I think everyones clutch creaks or squeeks every once in a while or sometimes all the time. If a clutch has slipped a large amount (like at the track) it can cause glazing which will cause the clutch to slip even when its not used up all the way. Does that make sense?
Yes that makes some sense, but I have not run my car at the track just raced sometimes from a roll or done some burn outs. I daily drive this car and do not push it all the time maybe once or twice a day somedays more of course. I got this car used and the person I got if from was some pregnant lady that only drove it to the beach or on long trips so i do not suspect she did anything. And its is just a slight slip nothing too big. So about the squeaking, is it anything to worry about? What can i do about this?
Thanks!
Thanks!
My clutch creaked before and after I changed my clutch this past weekend. I lobed everthing and still it creaks... Go figure. I dont think its anything to worry about just annoying.
If the clutch engages really high up off of the floor then it is going bad. This is the only consistent way that I have been able to tell when my clutches get bad.
