Default Review of the Phillips 4300k kit from Trevor

Well my kit came in today and i just had to go install it tonight. The install took me about a hr mostly b/c of trying to find a spot to mount the ballasts. I could prolly do the install in about 10 min now...very easy.

When i fired them up for the first time in the garage it was pure beauty. I love how the flicker blue then fade to white. I had very high expectations for these lights from all the good info I heard on here.

So I took it out for a spin. It was really dark and the lights seemed to be almost as bright as my 9005 conversion and high beams. With the hids and high beems it was very bright.

Then I got to the main roads. I must say I was quite dissapointed. They looked no different then my old bulbs. The light did go farther out on the road though. I have not adjusted my lights yet so that may be the problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions that may cause my lights to not be as bright as they should? I just shinned my headlights up really good with some polish, so its not that.

Anyways tomorrow i will try to mess around with them a little bit and see what happens. But overall I am pleased with the kit, maybe my expectations were just too high

Maybe you should re-adjust your projector? It's not the bulbs because 4300k is extremely bright. Are you referring to the color of the H.I.D.'s being close to your stock lights?

You won't really be able to tell much difference in the city because of the street lights. Those drown out most of the headlights anyway. That's why cars in Japan have the city lights, because they don't need the headlights while in the city, since the surrounding lights are so bright.

I bought the lights mainly because I do alot of night driving on the interstate, so for that they are great.

Aim them up a bit higher.

I didn't think mine were bright either, but after you adjust them up, it makes a big difference.

I love driving at night now, everything lights up.

I was beside an Audi A4 with HID's, and compared mine to his.

Mine light up the road a lot brighter than his.

were his OEM HID or not? If his were OEM it was probably just your hot spots making you think yours were brighter. OEM HID has a much more efficient beam pattern than HID inside a halogen housing.

Also I got more light on the road by aiming mine DOWN after installing. Mine were too high and light was being lost straight out into the air.

Almost positive they were OEM HID from Audi.

I noticed his beam pattern was very similar to mine.

We were both side by side, and both were behind cars in front of us.

My friend and I could clearly see mine were lighting the road up more, and were a lot brighter.

I'm happy with my purchase.

I noticed, BMW/Mercedes/S2000 HID's are almost blue/purple when lite up.
Is that because of their projectors?

Do they use 4300K or higher?

Some guy got the same kit as us.
Nice comparison side by side with S2000.

I also did side by side with my friend's S2000. My lights only appear brighter in the foreground because of the hotspots. His beam pattern is better and more effective at evenly lighting up the road.

Notice how the S2000 beam pattern is almost straight across directly in front of the car, and then spreads out from there, whereas mine are like 2 parabolic shapes on the ground (the hot spots). I would love OEM HID in my car, but that's just more money and time than I have, and I would definitely not be hacking up my original headlights, I would have to buy another set.

I read you comparison in your own thread a few days ago.

Even though it holds true, I still my HID's.

Maybe my next car will have HID's stock.

Adjust your headlamps. Also, what do you expect with a 9006 HID conversion? It was never meant for HIDs in the first place. But, it sure is a great improvement over halogens.

I know you'll like them in the long run. I do.

no, the only difference between a 9005 and a 9006 HID kit is the mounting ring on the base of the bulb, and the plug on the adapter harness.

*edit* a 9005 kit for an Integra would also use a D2R bulb for the reflector high beam, which would look like crap in a projector housing.

So, what kind are most of you getting? Just the 9006 kit?

Low Beam 9006.

No need for the 9005.

If you want info on someone who's done the 9006 and 9005 HID conversion, check out www.itrsport.com .

yeah it's cool if you get the stuff for free like he did, but otherwise it's total waste of money to put HID's in the high beams IMHO.
