i have a 95 gsr that has a serious idling problem. it fluctuates from 1k to 3k. and slowly gets better as the car warms up, but it will only settle with the engine warm and the a/c on. dealer told me it was my eac/iac valve so i put on a new $200 valve and it has helped nothing. has anyone else had this problem or have an idea of what else it might be.

 

Sounds like a major vacuum leak.

Check your Fast Idle Thermo Valve...pop off your intake, and on the inside of the TB you will see 2 holes. Plug the upper-left-most hole with your finger while the idle is fluctuating...if it sputters and remains constant at a low RPM, your FITV is bad. It is located on the underside of the TB.

Otherwise, take some soapy water and spray around your intake manifold, TB, etc...if you see it start to bubble, theres your leak. You can do the same with Carb cleaner. If the engine revs, youve found your leak where you sprayed it.

 

I think you might mean the lower hole theres two on the left and its the bottom one

have you recently changed your spark plugs?

Maybe the plugs are misfiring? I had my former mechanic put in bosch plugs with triple igniters and had them swaped out for NGK's because they my engine was irradically idling at start, but drove okay once the car was going.
