System !POPS! when car shuts off...HELP
when i turn the key to turn off the car while the music is playing, my system makes a loud pop(sounds like a smote of bass)...i want to know what is making the distraction to my system and how could i make it go away?? THANKS GUYS
Most likely a ground loop or just the current drawl. Check the ground on your amp, make sure it's good, and if so use an inline DC isolator on the RCA lines.
i have an EG hatch...the ground wire is connected to the seat smote thing...amp lays right on back of the rear seats and i put the seats down
make sure you have a good chasis ground, and that you are using the remote turn-on wire that comes out of the deck (blue w/ white stripe wire)

I'm guessing its a bad ground.. are you getting a good ground (on all the components of the stereo system) on a bare metal surface? otherwise it could be your admittedly "cheap" head unit... check the grounds and other connections first...
rjr162 hit it, but if that still doesn't work I've seen a small cap on the turn on wire to the amp help, that way it slowly loses power instead of all of a sudden.
Fit a diode in the processor's turn-on lead, striped side towards the EQ. Then add a capacitor in parallel, the (+) side of the capacitor connects to the striped (processor) side of the diode, the (-) side of the capacitor goes to ground (not the radio or EQ chassis - connect to the car chassis).
Experimenting with the cap value will give you the right amount of delay before the EQ shuts off. You don't want it too long, just long enough to make sure the amp is off before the EQ powers down. 220 - 1000 uF is about right, and make sure the capacitor is a polarized electrolytic, 16V or higher.
Do you have your remote wire connected to your radio or do you have it connected to your fuse box? My friend has his connected to his radio fuse and his subs pop when his system turns on and when he shuts his system off!!! He said he did this for headunit reasons. If the ground and the power cable ever touched he wouldn't blow out his headunit only the fuse and he showed me and I found that to be a good way to go instead of a blown headunit!!!
make sure that you use the floor of the car to ground the amp. scrape the paint in the area that you will use to ground and also use a star washer.goodluck
