Default help this noobie>>>>choice of engine

i have a 97 integ and plannin on an engine swap but don't kno which engine to go for if i want power and value( the most important things is that i don't kno if it fits)

all comes wit complete swap (thatz what they said)
h22a>$1850>200hp>prelude
b18c5>$4200>195hp>type-r
b18c1>2800>170hp>gsr

one look at it tells me go for the h22a but does it fit into my integ and if so what do i need. will my car be fast if i have a h22a or a b18c1 becuz of the weight differences
thanx!

i would say get the b18c1. its a better overall motor than the h22's, IMO, and its the best motor for you to put a turbo on.

Depends what you wanna do. If you wanna go ALL MOTOR go with the B18C1. If you want BOOST, go for an LS motor

Yes, go for an LS motor... like the one I have for sale - 97 b18b1 engine long block, asking $1000 shipped. Has maintenance history, never modified, definately not stolen (I have the donor car), and excellent compression test results. That's the best thing: the engine was compression tested 2,000 miles ago and it got 200, 195, 200, 195 psi. Can't get better than that. Let me know if anyone is interested or wants to make an offer.

man, i thought you guys were trying to help this guy out. a ls motor for a 1000 bucks??? that better have a tranny with it for that price. especially when b20's are like 800. and as far as boost goes, if you want the ls, your gonna wanna sleeve it. with the b18c1, you can run stock sleeves. thats why i say you should get a gsr block. then, later on, you can keep it NA or go turbo and you'll save alot of cash in the end.

come on guys the best bang for the buck honda motor is the H22A period...a stock H22 in a teg or civic will probably run mid to high 13's STOCK! yes it will cost you a bit more to get the motor in but it will pull harder and be more streetable than any B block on the planet

mid to high 13's eh? how do you figure. a type r runs high 14's and its b18c5 has only 5 less hp and weighs less.

resleeve your current motor and have the bore at 84.5 spec
and build a dope azz ls/vtec w/ forged pistons, new rods, etc etc.
get a gsr or b16head.
get an si or type r tranny.

you will not be able to retain a/c with the H22..and from what i've heard
the H22 will cost alot to install.

instead of paying for labor, you can make your current engine bad ***.

the h22 has so much more damned torque and all the weight will be in the front
end...being are cars are front wheel drive this will keep the front end down which
might help in drag/straight line racing. i believe engine and tranny of the h22 is
approx 60-80 lbs more than the b18 blocks.

but with h22, no a/c, maybe not power steering, not as many options with trannys
(closer gear ratios are a must for all motor), custom engine mount kit, i think you
also have to weld a mount for the H22 tranny? plus all the labor to do this sh*t..

If your thinking about this idea. Just go to importbuilders.com and buy their iron sleeved block stroked to 2.0 liters, and slap it in. Save up some money for a turbo, slap it on and boost 20psi. Importbuilders says their ironsleeve blocks can handle 35 psi, if not your money back.

all you need for the h22 swap is a mount kit and slim radiator fan, and a little time. man that **** is hella easy, the swap is no that big of a deal by anymeans. i have pics if need to see how"hard" it is!
and the mount kits are not weld in tehy are bolt in, except place racing kit!

definetly go with the h22a, i got a 95 gsr and it pretty fast but i wish i had the extra 30hp and especially the torque of the h22a. gsr will drop right in no problem, and after install and everything it will be around $3500-4000(prob. new clutch $500 ,tune-up $100 ,install $500)
But for the same price , if not a little less i bet you could get a h22a in there for around $3-3500 with new clutch, hasport mounts,tune-up, and everything needed and you'll be as fast as the type r if not maybe a little faster... high 13's with a stock prelude motor, lol, doubt it, maybe mid to low 14's could be possible. but add a few mods to the h22a 13's should be no problem N/A.
the type r , dont waste your money. be the time its installed you'll find yourself spending atleast $5500, when you could have a fully built gsr/h22a.
good luck swapping!h22a
