Default what's the best intake system for a 94 del sol?

i can't decide on which brand would be the best. right now i'm wanting to get a short ram intake, because the wet washington weather isn't too friendly to cold air extensions. can you give me you opinion?

My friend had a cold-air in his supercharged sol and he water locked it nine days after he put the intake on.It wasn't even raining, he just drove by some guy watering his lawn. I have a short arm intake and it makes just as much power as a cold air and it's alot safer. Espescially in your neck of the woods.

I fail to understand how you can hydrolock a motor unless the filter is submerged. Your friend must have driven through a deep puddle or something.......

Intakes won't make a ton of difference, but CAI make better power then short ram. Best ones....AEM, Iceman and "slater-take".

he would have HAD to drive through a pretty deep puddle or else nothing would have happend, a few drops up into your intake tract will usually evaporate before it gets to the engine, and it wouldnot be enough to cause any engine damage in the first place. the filter has to be completely submerged or it will just take air from around the water as water is heavier than air.

ummm...i used an iceman. changed to crappy short ram on heavy rainy days. never had a problem.

although, the AEM or even a home-made CAI would be your best bet. just from experience.

I have an Iceman too.....never had any problems at all in any amount of rain in over 5 years. I did hydrolock my original motor, but that's because I (stupidly) drove through deep water. It takes some doing to get water into the intake.....the filter has to be completely submerged as noted above.
