Default help fast car on jackstands with possible leakin!

can me having a downpipe leak about 4 inches away from my exhaust wheel cause a high pitch whistling sound when i furst start the car and gunn it? - but then after then car warms up it goes away...we have looked at everything under there...also can it cause me to loose power and not reach full boost??

thats a belt pulley squealing.

an exhaust leak is REALLY deep and loud.

An exhaust leak sounds like a truck, my freind forgot to install a gasket on hit exh and thats how it sounded-

no man it is the exhaut leak...it sounds like the thing is spoolin up when i gunn it...i know for a fact it is not a belt...is it possibly the pipe warming up??

no we know for a fact that the downpipe is leakin...would this cause me to loose power?? if the leak is 4 inches away from the xhaust?

Check all of your plumbing. I had something similar happen to me...upon inspection it turned out to be the lower intercooler hose. It had come loose somewhere along the line. Hope this helps.

mine did the same thing aleternator belt was loose tightened up problem solved

Nope, it is true. On a turbo engine you want as little backpressure after the turbo. This causes quicker spool up, and more of a chance to reach cross over. Cross over is where your intake pressure exceeds your exhaust pressure and you notice very large power gains.

On an N/A engine you want to keep your exhaust velocity up so that the exhaust is properly scavenged from the combustion chamber. The less exhaust in the combustion chamber, the more fresh air and fuel to burn. This in the end = more power to you.

So yes:

Turbo = power gain
N/A = power loss
