I know it means Maintinance Required but what is it for and how do i find out whats wrong with my car? my ITR is pretty new and it only has around 13K miles on it. I just changed the oil but i couldn't get the oil filter off because it was on too tight and i didn't have a tool with me to take it off... could that be the problem?

 

It is a light that comes on when triggered becuase of mileage. You have to push the button under the dash to turn it off.

Do a search and you should find a very nice diagram done by Yshi showing you where the button is.

 

You haven't ever bother to read your owner's manual?

when you take your car in for service, they've reset it. There's a button under the dash, driver's side, go look. press and hold, it'll go away. it has absolutely nothing to do with any onboard diagnostics, that's what the check engine light is for I think it comes on every 5k miles flashing at startup, then it'll come on solid at like 7500 miles. or maybe it's 3k and 5k. I forget, i always reset it right away, and i'm ahead on my oil schedule

 

oh yea go get an oil filter wrench and change the oil filter next time, ur lettin all that crap thats in the filter back in ur oil.

Yah! i found that diagram the Yoshi drew. and i held it down and it turned the light off but im about to go get a oil filter wrench right now and change that ****. its prolly alright that i take all the oil out and put it back in because its only been in there for like 300 miles.

 

you're aware that taking out the filter is going to get oil everywhere, right?

 

yeah..please drain the oil before taking off the filter, or else you are going to have tons of fun getting that ish off your face.
