I currently have a LS motor in my crx with a J1 tranny. What would be faster in the 1/4 mile, my LS bottom end with a VTEC head, or a B16?

FYI, my LS ran a 15.0@92

 

i would say l/svtec would be faster.

The LS bottom end, unless it's built, will NOT survive the RPMS.

Read my reply in this post. You would spend a lot less building a very strong b16 than you would building a strong LSvtec.

I still dont understand why you would build an LSvtec. If you have an LS and want power buy a turbo. Same price...more power. If you want to go all motor, dont buy an LS. I think its pretty simple.

that is what all these posts turn out to look like, opinions. No matter how many times anyone posts a topic like this i will always jump in and say this exact same thing. I dont know what you are looking for or want to hear but all your going to get out of posts like this is opinions. You want opinions, go to the search and look we have a good few gigs worth of opinions in threads, what setup is best? what motor? turbo or supercharger? Jeasus its the most asked thing here. If you wana find out whats faster, why not pm ppl who have those setups or read about them and then make your own conclusion, no matter what ppl say, its their personal opinions either from real life or from friends or whatever. There are waaaay too many inconsistencies with setups to ever possibly gauge what is faster, one person could say their ls/vtec is faster but they may have this and that done to it, or vice versa.
