Broke An Axle Today
I guess that 178 ft lbs was too much for the stockers, even with street tires. Scared the hell out of me when it happened in third gear. I'm glad I kept the power steering!
Any recommendations on aftermarket axles from some of you running big power R's?

178 lb/ft broke an axle? On street tires? There is more to the story because thats not very much torque to snap an axle, and im not trying to talk badly about your car by saying "only" 178 lb/ft either

It broke on the wheel end close to the outer joint. The clutch I run is a special CM unit that uses a single aluminum disk with Kevlar pads for faster shifting at 10K or higher. It's hard as hell to grab gears at anything over 9500 with clutches that have heavier disks..
Looking at the axle where it twisted, we think there may have been a flaw in it, but it's difficult to tell.
BTW, I was on it at perhaps 7800-8000 in third when it broke.
