Default Wait for final drive or not?

Ok I'm fixing to be getting my Action Kevlar clutch setup and Fidanza flywheel. I don't have the money right now but I think I could save up for a final drive, but that would mean waiting a little longer. What do you think?

Or you can get the FD first, then clutch/fw.

FD install is too technical for average techs. So you can always save up and get the clutch/fw at a later date and do it yourself (or with the help of buddies).

If that isn't an option for you, save up, the combo will be great.

I would wait. Save yourself the trouble of pulling the tranny twice.

Most likely the JDM. Since I run 195/50 tires that gives me about a 4.8 FD for alot cheaper than the ATS.

Same reason why I was looking into JDM and not ATS... my 195/50's.

.....do it all at once.

Don't be like me and do it at different times...

I would recommend 4.9 btw... just my personal preference, but I've driven 4.4, 4.785, and 4.929... especially at autox!

That way you can run 195/55's and not worry about dinging up your rims either...

I know this may be a "noobistic" question, but what exactly is the purpose of a final drive, just to accelerate faster or am I missing something. Is it really worth and and how much do they cost.

. . . .Just trying to learn a little

Wait for the final drive.
I should be doing this all next year. I'll do it all or nothing.

A shorter (numerically higher) FD makes every gear shorter, so you accelerate faster and you are at a higher RPM for a given speed in a given gear. A good way to think about it is a bicycle-- if you shift the chain onto a smaller chainring (front gear), it lets you accelerate faster in every gear at the rear wheel.

Just do the Action clutch and flywheel first, so I can read your review on the clutch!
