coilover install problem

Default coilover install problem

i tried to intall some coilovers on my 93 cx today but i didnt get to finish because i couldnt take out that one bolt to take apart the assembly. i compressed the spring already but then when i tried to turn that one nut, the whole thing spins. do you think i messed it up??

yep that does sound normall just try to hold the shock down and that should help.

are you talking about the top nut that holds the entire shock/spring/hat assembly together? If so, did you use an allen wrench in the center of the shaft or no?

yeah the one that holds the shock/spring/hat assembly. and no i didnt use the allen wrench at center. was i suppose to? sorry never did a spring/coilover install before.

yea you need to use an allen wrench in the center to hold the nut, then it will all come apart.
Yeah, use the proper size allen wrench and a 14mm open-end wrench. It will come off easily! You might want to spray that nut down with some WD-40 or brake cleaner if you have some...

5mm allen wrench and you'll be okay!

Also, in my experience, the Honda shocks are assembled very tightly, so try not to break any skin when holding onto that allen wrench, maybe hold onto it with a pair of pliar (I bent an allen wrench 45 degrees doing this!)
