I just got some 300 watt 6 1/2 for my civic. I tried cutting plastic and I still can't fit it. I guess I need to cut more. I wanted to know if it will interfeer with the window.from the rim of the speaker to the magnet is about 2 and a half inches. I only cut a piece of the pastic which is the half moon shape piece. There is more that I need to cut but wanted to make sure that 2 and a half inches is good enough not to hit the window when it goes all the way down. This is going into a sedan 98 civic.

well I had the same problem with some MB Quart on my teg. You need spacers to make them fit. I dint want to go thru the trouble and just replaced them with Alpine6.5 with smaller magnets.

 

your speakers might fit if you cut the rest of the stock spacer away.. cant tell forsure.. your probably gonna end up needing to make spacers for them..

 

when you guys say spacers what do you mean?

 

you can also space out the window track.

 

A wooden ring/ kinda like a donut. You stick it in between the speaker and door, or the stock piece, so that it clears the window.

 

but how do I test it to see if it will clear it? Roll the window down after I install it?

You should have the window down place the speaker in and make sure it fits tightly. If the magnet hits you need to space it a little more.

 

when i put Infinity 2-ways in my teg, i had to cut out basically the whole backing of that black plastic piece. Then they fit right in there w/no probs.

 

You can buy premade plastic spacers with different thicknesses from your local stereo shop.
