I have a 99Si W/49Gs miles on it. Ive just recently changed the oil about 1100 Miles ago. So I was on the freeway and was going pretty high in the rpms and I noticed my vtec was not kicking in. I was like oh maybe its the solenoid (nope it wasnt it) so I checked my oil. The oil was barely touching the dipstick not even at the first hole. So I put in about a quart (because I was broke) at break time and when I got to my house I checked the oil and it was the same as before I put the quart in it. So I did an oil change as soon as I got home. (cashed some pennies and quarters at the coinstar machine) and I added half of a quart just to be on the safe side. My tailpipe has alot of black crap around it.So im thinking its the rings. So I do a compression test later that day . Check if I did anything wrong with my compression test . I took off the FI Fuse and punched it during the cranks. 1st Cylinder is reading 109 WTF!!!! I added some oil in the hole (whatever that ***** called....where the spark plug goes) and no difference so I dont think its the ring. I have a full 100Gs warranty on this car so what do yall think it is?
if you still have a warranty on it, take it in the dealership and get it fixed. that doesn't sound like a normal problem for a car with such few miles. could also be your vavle seals and/or rings. take it into the dealer to have it checked out.

Putting oil in the cylinder and cranking it will not tell you if your rings are bad.
You need to do a leakdown, and find out where the leak is coming from.
My guess is you have burned rings, or you floated a valve and/or busted the valve seal.

There making me go through a oil consumption test to see if I lose oil. I have to go back in about 1000 Miles .. So in about 3 to 4 weeks. Ill keep yall posted.
A leak down test takes 20 mins, and can tell you EVERYTHING about what may be wrong with your engine.

What? Just tell them to do a leak down. When they tell you, you need an oil consumption test, they're passing you off to someone else for time.

um say you get a reading of 125psi in cylinder 1. you dump a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder. the oil coats the rings, IF the PSI jumps up with the oil know on the rings your rings are bad. If not, your cool. THATS what I have always been told.....
