ls/vtec question
i have a 92 integra and am about to put an already built ls/vtec motor in it. my question is that ive heard that it would be best to use my stock distributor because it goes best with my ECU, which is chipped....is this true?? and is there anything else that i should know about??? everything else seems to be straight forward.
The swapping distributors isn't going to do anything positive or negative.... You are talkin about using a LS distributor on your LSVTEC??? I would just go with the VTEC distributor if that's what you were planning on... You could use the LS but you'll have to cut the front mount since it will hit the VTEC solenoid on the VTEC head... Good Luck
the reason for using the ls distributor was so that i wouldnt have to wire the vtec distributor..im not trying to gain anything..just thought it would be easier because it would plug right in
i have a vtec controller for the vtec...i was wondering if i could save wiring in the b16 distributor because it wont plug right into my harness like the ls distributor will
Personally I would just rather cut the plug off the LS distributor and put it on the VTEC one.... What head did you use? 1st Gen... In that case you'll need an OBD1 or OBD2 distributor... I would just do it the right way... You say you have VTEC controller but did you wire the car up for it??? If you are messing with that wiring why not just do them both at once... I am just weird about this tho because motor building and wiring are the things that I have to have perfect or i'm just not happy... Using a non VTEC distributor will work but that's only if you are really lazy.. All the colors will match right up and then just solder them together.. Good Luck tho.. Peace

It works fine. I have a buddy using the nonvtec dist on a vtec head too.
I had to repin my obd0 harness to accept the obd1 dist, but yours came stock so you should be ok.
You will need to cut off one of the pegs on the dist cause it interferes with the vtec solenoid, and only one bolt will be holding the dist on but thats fine. Neither I nor my buddy have had any probs what so ever.
The colors represent how the ls dist sits on the vtec head. You can see how the bolt holes dont quite line up on the left and how the right (blue) peg will hit the vtec solenoid. You will cut the blue one off. Its not hard; afterall, its aluminum.
