please inform me on EK hatches...
ok, I have, for a long time, been MAJOR anti fwd, and recently, I have started to soften up on that belief because I think that EK hatches look nice, and also because of this forum. hearing about 11 second civics that autoX really gets me thinking that maby hondas arent all rice
anyways, I just want to gather info on the EK hatches, because I dont like how the EGs look, just my prefrence.
p.s.... the essential question.... how much will it cost me to swap in a b18/b20?

That depends on many things, like if you buy new/used, buy a complete swap or buy pieces here and there. Do you want to keep the motor stock (no VTEC) or do you want to use a VTEC head? I am assembling a B20 VTEC a piece at a time. It is more time consuming, but I am getting great deals on parts because I am waiting and not in a rush. Here is what I have spent so far and other parts w/ estimated prices:
*B20B longblock -$500
*Rebuilt GSR Transmission - $800
*Complete B16a head - $400
*CTR Intake and TB, SI throttle linkage and cable - $400
*Forged pistons and rods - $700
*Clutch - $250
*Used ITR flywheel - $150
*B series starter, PS pump, alternator (used) - $150
*Axles - $150
*VTEC shift linkage - $100
*ECU - $300
*Wiring harness - $100
*Machine work (estimated) - $600
*Nuts/bolts/doodads - $400
All of this is going into a 98 hatch and I have to keep OBDII, so i'm limited on choices of ECU's (hence the high cost). You can add or substitute a ton of parts in there to change the price, but i'm looking at spending about as much as an ITR swap. However, I can move at a slower pace since i'm buying parts as I go and build the engine however I wish. I will put down more horsepower than the ITR motor, be able to rev almost as high, and have gobs more torque.
