whats wrong with my temp?
well today i was driving i noticed that my water temp gauge was really moving. anywhere from 2 bars below half to 4 bars above half. i was not driving hard, only to 4k rpm. it would really heat up at stoplights, and then cool off a little when i would start moving. the fan was running and everything, not sure whats going on here, any ideas?
hate to tell you either your thermostat is going or possibly the headgasket. have you noticed any coolant consumption or white smoke from the exhaust
coolant levels are fine, i just flushed the system about 2 weeks ago. no smokw coming from the exhaust....
D
I agree with the thermostat.
Question to the rest of the group: What would happen if he had air in his radiator? Would that possibly cause this as well? Or would the levels change in the reserve? After all he did mention that he "Flushed" his coolant system. Just wondering what would happen in that case....

ITR has a bleed screw under the radiator on the passenger side. Then there is the screw on the engine block that you ALSO have to bleed to fully flush your system.
BTW - The bleed screw is white, and plastic. Just don't mess up the O-ring that is on the bleeder screw, and remember to use gasket seal on the engine block screw (although it's not REALLY needed, and most people don't...I'm just a little **** about it.)

This is a drain, it will only let out fluid.

so concerning the bleeding, i have covered it right, by running the car with the cap off, how long should the car be run for?
took a long tim eto get an air bubble out of Marc's car too, my bet is on an air bubble as well.
damn, so i guess now i need to take the radiator cap off again and let the can run idle for a while?
