This is how i got mine out, I took out the starter and the 10mm clucth bolt. Than I took a 6mm allen wrench and stuck that into the screw hole. I would use a cheater bar and turn the crank. If that cheater bar don't work take a hammer and try hitting the rachet making a sort of impact motion. I would check the casing by the starter to make sure the allen wrench is not tearing the casing or scratching it. I had no problem doing this. Also make sure you get a good allen wrench and not a cheap one because it will bend.

So i checked out some of the other threads on this, and they were saying to get a crank pulley tool, so i went to the local auto parts stores and neither of them knew what i was talking about of course.. what doe sthis thing look like, or does anyone have a picture of it??

Also, is there any way to line up the crank shaft without having to pull the pulley off and line up the notch???? Thats the whole point of this.. i had the timing belt off the cams and the crankshaft got turned, so now its misalligned.. i == frustrated =[

try using the single white mark on the crank pulley. it should be 2 inchs to the right of the three red timing marks...

that equals TDC.

also, if you stick a sewing needle, bycycle spoke or similar long thin rod into the top of no. 1 spark plug hole with the spark plug removed and turn the crank - you will see the rod move up and down.

when it gets to its highest point - that is roughly TDC...

I heard of people stuffing rope into the cylinder to keep the engine from turning...just don't bend any valves. Try taking off the flywheel cover and see if there's any threaded holes on the flywheel. If there is, use a bracket to bolt it to something else.

I don't understand how the crank keeps turning if you have it in fifth....are the brakes slipping? I tried this once too and the brakes slipped in 1st....but in 5th? My concern was that the tranny wouldn't hold up to the stress in any other gear.

I've done one where an impact wouldn't budge it....I ended up bolting the flywheel to the tranny case using a bracket.

If you still need the crank pully bolt out mac tools makes a special socket that fits inside your crank pully so that you can keep it from moving while you use a breaker bar with a nineteen m.m. socket to brake the bolt loose. any auto. repair shop or dealer will have the number to a local mac toool dealer.
if your trying to line up the engine on t.d.c. with out removing the crank pully you can use the white mark or use the two marks on the inner part of the cam pully and line them flush with the head.
good luck.

ok, heh .. now, the problem with the pulley holder is that, with the swap half of the pulley is covered up by the fender well or whatever, its only enough thta i can get to the 19 mm..... but that doesnt matter now cause all im trying to accomplish here is geting everything to TDC.. Now, i thought i saw a white mark on the crank pulley, i looked down through the covere of the timing belt and lined it up with a notch that was on the block, i got everything back together with the cams lined up at TDC but the car wouldnd start and i was hearing a thunking sound.... heH?! i=sux

Oh boy.

The white mark is on the crank pulley itself... It's a little groove on the edge of the crank pulley.. not too far away you should be able to find 3 marks as well.. Anyways... there should be a notch on the timing belt cover.. That's the mark/notch you have to line up the white mark too.. not the one on the block. Once that mark is lined up.. then you line up the cams gears and you should be good to go...

but that THUNKING sound doesn't sound too good.

I first took out the flywheel cover, then put a small prybar between the teeth and against the floor, the bolt came off with breakerbar no prob.
good luck

there are several tools that you can use. you can buy a chain/visegrip style tool also for less than 20 bucks i'm sure your local auto parts place should have. If you were local i can let you borrow mine

Im thinking that thunking sound was the valves and pistons hitting each other.....
Think i can get away with it now?
weeeeeeee ohh well just an excuse for a whole new valve train right? =p
