Default Switching out 5th gear in tranny..?

Looking for good tranny combo for my daily driver and figure a b16 hydro tranny would be best with the shorter gears but dont like the idea of freeway driving revs to be as high as 5+rpm. So could I swap out 5th with a ls integra tranny to make my freeway commute easier on my motor. What will consist in the swap and has anyone dont this or something similiar to this. Possible final drive swap as well may lie ahead.

See Mistabone's website. I believe he has it in his signature.

Many people have done this but, Mistabone does it for the SOHC habbitually.

ahh,,, search?

what kinda whp are you going to be making

gear the tranny dependent upon your TQ curve. if you dont have any power, a tall 5th gear wil prevent you from driving over 90mph or so, because the wind will be too strong

ahh....thanks for the reply , I did do a search and didnt find any helpful info. Haven't dynoed my motor yet but I'm sure the wind in fifth wont keep me from getting over 90mph. Motor is a b20vtec mid endyn compression currently with a gsr tranny. Anyother helpful info?

well...i can give you some info on my gear swap...
I had a b16 and hated the 5th gear on the highway. I finally broke down and swapped out the 5th gear for a GSR 5th gear when I did 3rd-4th synco. Now that I have the b20, the lower RPMs are greatly appreciated in 5th on the high way. Look up on HybridGarage for the different gear ratios. If I could get a little higher gear ratio 4th gear, and 5th gear, I would do that now that I have plenty of power and never "race" in 5th on the tracks anyway.
