Default Quaife vs. OEM Honda ITR LSD

I'm currently building two cars... one purely drag and the other a street car.

Both have ITR trannies. I was going to swap both LSDs with Quaifes but today was told not to, as there is no real advantage.

With my street car, I never ever was able to spin both wheels with the ITR LSD.. will the Quaife help, or not?

welll any lsd isnt gonna do that...you simply need more power or better gearing...

yes the quaife is worth the loot...lifetime warrantee and it can take anything you throw at it

personally i'd stay away from kaaz. I broke clutch discs in my allmotor car. But then again...i have beef with kaaz. I was asked to put a Kaaz sticker on my car for that Turbo Photo Shoot i did. Should The car be featured in the article and Kaaz mentioned they would give me a diff(nice of them considering i have a broken one already). Article came out....and kaaz isn't returning my calls. Nice company. I'll never recommend them again.

just do the quaife(can't go wrong with them) or if drag only a prodrive

Well an itr diff will hold up for a little while dragracing, it will break, a quaife wont. As far as performance advantage I do not know I love my quaife.Jason

hey jason i am a member of the I broke a quaife club(just wanted to clear up that quaife wont break thing) hehe. honda one should hold up better ares has male outputs instead of female inputs. hence the design problem.

here is one does Kenny Tran run a quaife(is it an off the shelf quaife for that matter) i see the stickers just curious. or is it just the gears.

We run an off the shelf quaife and stock gears. We tried the quaife gearset but weren't able to get the gear ratios we needed with that set.

i tried a full quaife tranny in my allmotor (streetish) teg. It was a fun ride but that gearing certainly wasn't going to help me. lol

vw physics do not apply to honda diff's, or anything honda for that matter Besides any manufacturer that states un breakable , say so but adds, unbreakable unless joel or kevin buy it tony answered your quaife question, but serious I love mine. Also any one who needs a quaifeon the east coast Charlie is a dealer, we can also install them for you also. my quaife blew up internally and turned into a spool at the end of a pass, but from what I hear it's very rare. they replaced it and sent it back nextday. don't think they are unbreakable.

Well a quaife can break, as Joel reminds everytime I say they dont, but you have to admit they have a awesome track record for reliability.Considering that they probally never were designed for 8 and 9 second 1/4 mile passes.Besides I rather have a quaife, than a spool if a axle breaks going down the track ,a quaife will be easier to save than a spool.

I don't know who's tranny it was(but came from DRT)....but no not sequential box. it was all quaife internals and gearing. was one spensive *** tranny though. I went through 5 gears with only an 107mph trap speed. That was more shifting then i was use to

I have a jdm b16 lsd in my car with a crap lod of mod's are you saing that mine will not hold up the power of (300+) that I will be producing. I will be doing a few drag runs to get my time in but it will be a daily driver. Well do any of you think I need to invest in a Q LSD.

The trannies hold up fine, oe syncros can last a good while depends on driving style.I swap trannies twice this year, no failures, just started becoming hard to go into 1st, on one of them, then 3rd on the other. My only tranny mod was a quaife, and honda mtf.I think using the twin disc clutch helped out because it released very well at high rpm.I also dont power shift I flat shift, so I think that is easier on trannies.I had a jdm b16 trans with oe lsd, diff held up 500 passes, broke at etown in 2nd gear a year latter, I was running a 80 shot of nitrous, mid 11's was what the car was running then. After that I threw in a quaife that diff has seen over a 1000 passes no complaints. Jason
