JDM Tranny Question
I have a 2000 base prelude which I really enjoy driving. It's got about 28,000 miles on it and everything is great, except for the beginnings of a synchro grind from 1st to 2nd gear (and no it's not my shifting Gills!
) I have to shift at redline to get the slight scratch so it's something I could live with, but I have been considering my options.
I feel that my chances of Honda doing warranty work on the tranny are not very good, considering you have to redline the car to notice the grind, I'm assuming they are either going to say they couldn't reproduce the grind, or that I am driving the car hard and things are wearing out.
So I'm curious what it would cost me to get a new JDM tranny. I think the JDM tranny comes with a LSD cause if I do this I would definitely want one, but I'm just trying to get an estimate. Also, where the hell would I start looking for a tranny?
Any help would be great.
Thanks.
Chris

Do they sell the transmissions separately? Strange, because i emailed them and they told me they don't sell just the transmission but the entire swap.

At a price of $1650 you could buy the motor and keep the tranny and sell it to a poor kid with a blown motor and a good tranny, or an h23 tranny.
