Default Remote starters for code keyed cars?

Do you guys think it's a good idea to install a remote starter into my ITR since it's got the coded key?? I'd have to bury a shaved key in the car, but I'm unsure as to the safety of this. I was looking at the CompuStar system that included the starter, so I need to decide if I should just asked them not to install that part of it.

Also opinions on the CompuStar system would be great too...TIA for the help...

DEI makes a unit that is designed to work for cars with coded keys/immobilizer systems. The housing is about the size of a window-rollup module and can be placed anywhere in the car. It's relay controlled so that the signal from the key only transmits during the remote start process. Once the remote start process ends, you're back to normal operation. Crimestopper also makes a similar unit (CS-TATA).

The units are fairly simple to install. All you have to do is place a key in the supplied housing. Mount it in a secure place. Run the loop wire to the ignition cylinder. Connect the remaining wires to your alarm and/or remote start module according to the included instructions.

Also checkout http://www.transponderbypass.com The company is based in Canada but should be able to ship to the US. I've never ordered from this company before but their products look almost indentical to the DEI and Crimestopper units. Their site also has some useful information that may benefit you. Good luck!!

I just found a site where you can order the transponder bypass module. Check out http://www.12voltdirect.com They sell the same products that you see in http://www.transponderbypass.com The site looks decent and so do the prices. $20 for the module!!

Like I said earlier, I've never ordered from this company but their policies are as good as most online retailers. Try to use a credit card when ordering that way you'll have a lower chance of getting screwed if something goes wrong.
