Default H22 Tranny!!!!!

The other day my friend raced his H22 Civic and can't seem to have consistant shifts. He keeps on grinding 2nd and 3rd gear @ high rpm's. Do you guys know if this is a common thing with these trannies? My tranny and many others don't seem to have this problem. My co-worker who rebuilds trannies said he could take it apart and tell us what the problem is. Since we've dropped the motor in 3rd gear grinded from the get go. Oh yeah, the motor and tranny are jdm(if makes a diffence). Thanks.

The synchros in our trannies suck. If they get grinded at all they go to hell very quickly.

Have enough oil in the tranny? Have your syncros checked also

does he have a problem with the reverse gear? for some reason my reverse won't want to go in, but all of my other gears goes in smoothly.

I think we're just going to yank out his tranny and have my buddy rebuild it. BTW, I heard from a reputable engine builder that if you grind down every other tooth on a synchro you can bang through the gears alot quicker. How true is this?

Yeah, oil level is ok. Another thing, my friend who rebuilds trannies fills all Honda trannies with 3 to 4 qts. through the VSS hole. Man, i need to learn how to rebuild these things.

Well i had a 5th gear grind and i changed out my fluid to GM Syncromesh. That Stuff is AMAZING! I can not make 5th gring anymore!!! I really recommend it!
And Honda recommends only 2 quarts of oil!!! No need for 3 or 4 quatrs of oil!!

i did a search on the GM Sycromesh and it stated that it's only for selected GM and Chrysler gear boxes. How long have you used it for?
