Selling my '94 VTEC
Hey everybody. As much as I HATE to do this, I really need a car that I can use as a tow vehicle for my racecar, so I have to sell my Prelude. The car was built to be driven daily, but be only a tire change away from track (road course) ready - which is exactly how I used it. It was never raced, just used for track events. Never wrecked, never damaged in any way.
'94 Prelude VTEC
Black/Black (leather)
H22A OBD1 engine ('95+ cars are OBD 2 and not as fast)
95k miles
engine:
Iceman cold air intake
DC 4-2-1 SS header
DC 3" exhaust piping to a 4" tip
upgraded NGK plugs and Magnacore wires
dynoed at 180 (at the wheels) with the stock intake, about 185-190 now.
suspension:
GC coil overs
Eibach springs (425f/340r)
koni yellows - adjustable, and already set
Neuspeed front tie bar
brakes:
NSX calipers
SS brake lines
KVR racing pads front
Porterfield R4S pads rear
ATE Super Blue fluid
set up for brake ducts, though they are not in now
safety:
Autopower 4 point bolt-in roll bar
5 point harnesses
wheels/tires:
stock '94 VTEC 15" wheels (17lbs) with Yoko snow tires mounted
Kosei K1 Racing 15" wheels (12lbs) with Yoko AVS intermediates mounted 225/50/15
other:
hardwired car phone with microphone on A pillar
amp
IPF road lights
wired for CD changer, but changer itself is broken
Full records since new, Mobil 1 oil, Red Line MTL trans oil.
Very fast street car, 1:05s at Lime Rock, 1:31s at Summit Point
I would much prefer a buyer who will use it on a road course, since that is what I built it for. Seriously, if you don't mind doing a track event on street tires, you could pick it up and go directly to the track as is and start beating up on Vettes, Mustangs, M3s, and 911s.
Also, please do some research on the H22A if you are serious about buying. I would hate for somebody to waste their time coming out to see it, and then not want the car because it blows crap out the back under full throttle, and goes through oil quickly. ALL H22As do that! They also grind going into 5th, and don't like taking 1st gear unless the car is completely stopped, etc.
I'm asking $10k for it because of the excellent condition, and the amount of work done to it. E-mail me if you are serious....
Pics are at http://www53.homepage.villanova.edu/...er/watkins.htm though at the time it was running on old '93 wheels which I have since sold. The '94 stock wheels are a different spoke pattern.

Sellout!
jk!!
I don't blame you Matt, your racing career should come first..
You've given that car the utmost amount of care over the years, it will surely make someone very happy...
I can also give my seal of approval for the Iceman install...
I can publicly vouch for this car, it's one hell of a value for the price. If I already didn't have one, i'd buy this one!
Best of luck Matt, kick *** next season! You are truly one of the "OG" preluders from back on Ed's board... sucks to see you go, but glad you'll still be here on h-t, and not far from me either.
I may need a good instructor too...

Thanks Mike. I'm still unsure about the whole thing. Part of me thinks whoever buys this car is going to see me cry!
I drove the H4/H5 CRX to and from the track, but this new Civic is just a little too tweaked not to have a way to get it home if I have a mechanical failure. I just want to see the Prelude go to a good home.
Matt
P.S. Let me know if you need an instructor!

Did you ever take it to a 1/4? If so what were your times? Do you have an h22a or an h22a1? Only one other question... if you put a roll cage in, you obviously weren't planning on having anyone sitting in the back, why not gut it all out? From one prelude owner to another, your car looks nice!
185-190 at the wheels? cmon now.. corey makes 185.
i hate how my prelude blows crap out the back, grinds into 5th and makes me come to a complete stop to go into first! these damn cars!
im guessing he didnt go "all out" because he already had his CRX for that.

As for the roll bar, it does make the back seats unusable. I didn't strip the interior because I wanted something presentable for my everyday car. Also the interior helps buffer some of the road noise that you would get from a stripped out car. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.
Thanks for the compliment. I really do love that car, and it shows. I didn't just beat on it, I also do 3-step waxes on it several times a year to keep it looking good.

I have the dyno sheets. IIRC it was 178whp without the cold air intake. Adding the cold air intake to a car that already has a header and exhaust is a big gain. I tried to get before and after numbers with a G-Tech, but it read a 20whp gain, which I don't believe. 185 is extremely possible though.
hrm... well damn nice then! i cant imagine that DC header making too much power. its probably that 3" piping exhaust. usually you see 3" piping for turbos. i guess the big block h22 needs to breathe!
