Default My '94 Prelude VTEC for sale?

I think I have to get myself a tow vehicle for next year, which means I'm going to sell my beloved '94 Prelude. I am posting this here and only here. No other websites, no other boards on honda-tech. I spent a lot of money building this thing to be a kick *** track car, and no riceboy is going to ruin it.

It's a '94 VTEC. Black, with black leather interior.94k miles

Engine: H22A. Two years ago it dynoed at 178 at the wheels, and that was with the stock intake. With cold air intake, it is probably went up to about 185. Since it is a '94, it is an OBD 1 car, which makes more power than the OBD 2 cars. The engine and transmission are both the originals with 94k miles on them. The car still pulls strong! It blows crap out of the back when you get on it, but all H22As do that.

Iceman cold air intake
DC sport 4-2-1 SS header
DC sport cat back exhaust
upgraded plugs with magnacore wires

Suspension:

Ground Control/Eibach springs 425f/340r. Very nice and neutral. Ride is a bit firmer than a stock NSX.
Koni yellow adjustable shocks
Neuspeed Upper Tie bar

Brakes:

NSX calipers
SS brake lines at all 4 corners
KVR racing pads front, Porterfield R4S pads rear
ATE Superblue fluid
Holes for brake ducts

Wheels:

15" Kosei K1 racing wheels with Yoko AVSi tires 225/50/15
15" stock wheels with Yoko snow tires

Others:

Autopower bolt in roll bar
5 point harnesses
IPF road lights
Sparco gas pedal cover
car phone a la 1995 - hardwired in with microphone on A pillar
amp
wired for 6 CD changer, but I broke the changer itself

I still have all the stock parts removed from the car, including calipers.

There are some older pics of the car at

http://www53.homepage.villanova.edu/...er/watkins.htm

The car is in great shape inside and out. I built it to be a perfectly comfortable daily driver (and even trip car), but to be damn fast on the track without doing anything other than changing to track tires.

edmunds.com values it at $9942 stock. How about $11k?

IM me if you want more info.

Matt

2 questions:

1) Did you go to 'Nova? (I ask because of where your pics are hosted.) I graduated from the Villanova College of Engineering in '97.

2) Would you be interested in some sort of a trade for a very nice 2000 Prelude 5spd with 45,000mi?

Yep. Graduated Psychology/PreMed in '96, MBA in '01

I wouldn't be able to use that as a tow vehicle though.... You could probably sell yours independently, buy mine, and still have some cash in your pocket.

7k?!? Oh come on. You can do better than that! I'll drop the price a little bit for an ECHC friend, but I can't sell that car for 7k. It's WAY nicer, and faster, than anything you can buy new for $20k.

Good question. I don't know what you could get for < $11k that would beat it on a road course, AND still be such a good daily driver. When I used to track it, I used to just pound on 911s, Vettes, etc. You've seen what Corey can do on the track with his in big bore. They are VERY fast cars....

Maybe I shouldn't sell it......

Yeah, I used to own a black 1993 Prelude VTEC that I sold 2 1/2 years ago for $9700 with only 69,000mi on it. on me! I miss that Prelude. That car was bone stock, and it was awesome. Now I have a 5th gen Prelude modded for Solo2 STS... I am seriously considering replacing my 5th gen with another 4th gen VTEC Prelude to use for autoX and track days instead. The 4th gens weigh about 100lbs less and had closer gearing... But it's so hard to find nice 4th gen VTEC Preludes. They were very rare cars. I hope it finds a worthy home if you do sell it.

Oh and RY8127, no dice on the Mugen header... It's going on my 4th gen if I make the switch...

yea, I'm not exactly sure what happened, but the 4th gen's are much faster than the 5th...

I sold my 2001 about a year after I bought it...

That is all driver. Certainly the car is fast but if you put Corey into a Corvette do you think the Prelude would still be faster?

Or better yet - YOU buy it Tony. Then you can race with Corey instead of just watching him . . . .

Where is JJ when we need him?

That is all driver.
it's the driver/car combination, the Prelude is easy to drive fast. My first track day ever I was turning lap times that would have placed me in the middle of the 2nd fastest run group that day - in a bone stock car on street tires.

So basically, both people who track/race Prelude VTECs kick the **** out of everybody in sight. I'm not going to sit here and argue about how good Corey and I are, but the car is very capable!

Just looked up Private Party BB on http://www.kbb.com..... It says that your car is worth $6105..... I tend to believe that more than 9000 dollars..... With all the modifications that you listed, I STILL wouldn't value the car at more than 7000.... Why? Because it's a 9 year old Honda that's spent the last two years having the crap beat out of it....

I'm not sure how you looked it up, but I just checked kbb and it says $7425. I stopped using kbb a long time ago because it isn't realistic. http://www.edmunds.com is much more in line with what cars actually sell for.

http://www.edmunds.com/used/1994/hon...pe/prices.html

Actually that isn't true - the Prelude hasn't seen the track in a few years. It had two years of track duty, then was retired to the street when I started racing wheel to wheel. If there was any damage to the car from track driving, it would have surfaced by now. This car comes with no surprises.

I was asking $11k, assuming that I could get $10k for it. I still say that is a hell of a deal for that car, and I'm more than willing to wait for somebody who knows what they are buying, and will pay it. This isn't some riceboy car like the one on ebay, it was built to do what we do. Selling off the leather interior alone will get you a decent chunk of money back as well if you prep it for racing...
