Default Stupid questioin about p28 ecu

If you have a obd2 engine but use a obd2-1 jumper.. can you just use any manual p28 ecu and throw it on? or do you have to get it chipped first. tried a search.. any help?

You can use it, but your timing and fuel maps will not be optimal.VTEC will be early and fuel cut is at 7,200 rpm.

I've run a B16a on the stock p28 for a total of about six months at different points due to different reasons and it SUCKS. The maps are totally off, low speed drivability is poor, and the fuel cutoff slows the car immensely.
I have been running on a p28 for two months now due to a short frying my old ECU. The head is thoroughly port polished, and the car goes slower now with the p&p and 7200rpm cutoff than it did with a stock head and proper ECU.

...a stock p28 works great on a B-series VTEC engine when smogging though.
